Report: Trump Was Really Upset When Brett Kavanaugh Repeatedly Pledged His Love For Beer During Hearings

Donald Trump is a man of many vices. But one vice he does not share with a number of Americans is indulging in alcohol. According to the former president he has never had a drink in his life. He attributes his lifelong sobriety to watching his brother Fred’s life long struggle with alcohol.

WASHINGTON, DC – SEPTEMBER 27: Judge Brett Kavanaugh testifies to the Senate Judiciary Committee during his Supreme Court confirmation hearing in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill September 27, 2018 in Washington, DC. Kavanaugh was called back to testify about claims by Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused him of sexually assaulting her during a party in 1982 when they were high school students in suburban Maryland. And Trump, despite his many faults, is quick to judge others. According to Mark Meadows, he did so when Brett Kavanaugh had his confirmation hearings. The former Chief of Staff claims that Trump was put off that Kavanaugh repeatedly discussed his love for beer.

Kavanaugh said at one point in the hearings, “We drank beer, and you know, so did, I think, the vast majority of people our age at the time. But in any event, we drank beer, and still do. So whatever, you know.”

Meadows notes, “We thought that his nomination would be a slam dunk. But when the heat started, that calm façade melted.”

Ironically Trump, who is an incredibly insecure person, despises weaknesses. Meadows continues, “If there is one thing for which President Trump has absolutely no tolerance or patience, it’s weakness.”

In the end, Republicans were focused on getting Kavanaugh on the Supreme Court no matter what. And they were able to do so in 2017.
