This morning, long time Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg turned himself into authorities. While the former president is unlikely to be charged this week, New York is clearly hoping that Weisselberg may now be more willing to give them information on his former boss.
But rather than being upset about the news, however, the former president is reportedly happy. In Trump’s mind, the indictments will be seen as a witch hunt and hurt Joe Biden in 2024.
Politico’s Tara Palmeri reports:
“The former president was on a conference call with his advisers Monday discussing his favorite topic — revenge — when he was interrupted with an update on the Manhattan D.A.’s investigation. He would not be personally indicted, Trump was told — only Weisselberg and the Trump Organization would be. Trump was thrilled by what he saw as light charges, and according to one of the advisers on the call, his mind raced to 2024.”
The former president said in response to the news, “Just wait until 2024, you’ll see. This is going to hurt Sleepy Joe.”
The report follows that Trump is in his best mood in months. The combination of this news along with the high off his recent Ohio rally has him excited to get back in the game. An adviser told Politico, “Now he’s definitely going to run for president.”
