Report: Trump is Mad At Pelosi and Won’t Be In The Same Room As Her
On Wednesday, the World Health Organization officially declared COVID-19 to be a pandemic. Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have seen the way the virus has affected both the economy and their communities. Now is a good time for some bi-partisan togetherness.
But if Nancy Pelosi has any good ideas about how to combat the crisis, she may not be able to relay them to the President. According to Politico, Trump will not meet with the Speaker of the House because he is mad at her.
Trump is reportedly still stung about Pelosi ripping up a copy of his State of the Union address. He has deputized Steve Mnuchin to handle talks with the Speaker.
CNBC’s Eamon Javers spoke about Trump’s hurt feelings during an appearance on Nicolle Wallace’s show. He told the host the White House felt, “it wouldn’t end well,” if the two were to meet.
Wallace replied, “It’s a tragic statement that because he’s so wounded — I mean, we’re in the middle of a national crisis, and he can’t get in a room with the speaker of the House?”
Javers answered, “Because she ripped up his speech, she’s been tough on him, she impeached him, and therefore the president has every right to not want to be in a room with her.”
