It is fair to wonder why anyone would consider working with Donald Trump. In addition to his mercurial mood and love for firing people, Trump is famous for stiffing contractors and employees.
Many of his former aides are involved in legal entanglements following Trump’s tumultuous presidency. And according to Maggie Haberman, their requests to have the former president pay their legal bills are going unanswered.
The New York Times scribe writes, “As Trump has signaled to some of his current and former staff that he won’t cover legal bills related to Jan. 6, some are considering taking legal action to force him to, according to one former senior Trump adviser.”

Haberman also shared a denial of the story from someone from Trump’s legal team. She tweeted, “A person close to the Trump legal team efforts contradicts the statement by the former senior adviser, saying several people have their legal bills covered and that Trump ally Matt Schlapp is involved in raising money for it.”
But the journalist then followed up that message by posting, “A second former senior Trump aide messages to say that several people are paying their own bills at significant cost, with no offer to help.”
Those former aides should probably avoid holding their breath, considering Trump’s history.
