Report: Sean Hannity Wanted Trump to Pardon Hunter Biden After 1/6 to ‘Smooth Things Over’

In the days after January 6th, most Conservatives were willing to admit that it was a horrible thing. And there was the thought that Donald Trump could even be in political trouble. It didn’t take long, however, for Republican voters, politicians and media members to decide that the insurrection was no big deal.

On January 7th of 2021, Conservative pundits were concerned enough to try to come up with ideas to make Trump look better. Sean Hannity even suggested that the former president pardon Hunter Biden.

While Biden was never charged with any kind of crime, Fox News had made smearing him a nightly part of their programming. And text messages between Hannity and Kayleigh McEnany reveal the plan. He wrote of Trump, “He was intrigued by the Pardon idea!! (Hunter).”

The Daily Beast explains, “According to the source, Hannity proposed that Trump issue a last-minute pardon for Hunter Biden, whose business dealings had two years prior been at the center of the ex-president’s campaign to extort an investigation out of the Ukrainian government—efforts that led to Trump’s first impeachment in 2019.”
