Report: Propagandistic Fox Host ‘Unlikely To Return’ After Bonkers Coronavirus Coverage
It seems that even Fox News has decided that right-wing misinformation and propaganda is not to be used in the middle of a global pandemic, and they are punishing hosts who continue to push such dangerous nonsense.
Trish Regan of Fox Business has been indefinitely sidelined after she ranted that the media’s wall-to-wall coverage of the seriousness of the COVID-19 outbreak was just another Democratic attempt to take down President Donald Trump. Paul Fahri and Sarah Ellison of the Washington Post reported on the matter:
“Regan’s on-air speculation at the start of last week that coronavirus was merely another impeachment gambit for Democrats drew widespread pushbackClearly the mood was changing at Fox by the time the network announced late Friday that her discussion-and-commentary program on Fox Business would leave the air indefinitely, to be replaced by newscasts. Fox insiders said Regan is unlikely to return.”
Well, it’s about time Fox took some responsibility when it comes to what they feed their rabid base of conspiracy theory-minded Trump supporters. At this point, it is downright dangerous to report anything but the absolute truth when it comes to this pandemic, and to have a wild card like Trish Regan on the air raving about more attempts to harm Trump’s presidency in the midst of a deadly outbreak that is killing people daily is truly beyond the pale.
Ellison and Fahri continued with their report, though this time they pointed out that high dollar and ratings hosts such as Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity hardly seem to be suffering the same fate as Trish Regan:
“But they added that Regan’s removal from air showed that only some hosts — those with the biggest ratings — are protected at Fox News. ‘If you put Trish’s comments up against Laura [Ingraham’s], you can’t honestly tell me that Trish is off the air’ because of her coronavirus commentary, said a former Fox News executive who spoke on the condition of anonymity to speak frankly about his past employer.”
It seems that ratings is the name of the game here, and while Trish Regan may be gone, Fox News will still continue to be the dangerous right-wing propaganda machine that it has been since its inception.
