On Thursday, the United States pulled off a military operation that resulted in the killing of Iranian General Qasim Suleimani. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi both said they were not briefed by the White House before the strike.
Some Republicans, like Lindsey Graham said that they were told about the plan in advance. And it seems like they may not have been the only ones. According to a report from the Daily Beast, Trump told weekend visitors to his Mar-a-Lago resort that something huge was coming.
The first sign that Trump told people outside the government about the planned strike was a recent tweet from son, Eric. In a since deleted tweet posted prior to the operation, Eric Trump wrote, “Bout to open a big ol’ can of whoop ass.”

The Daily Beast now says that Mar-a-Lago revelers were also somewhat filled in. The site reports, “Trump began telling friends and allies hanging at his perennial vacation getaway that he was working on a ‘big’ response to the Iranian regime that they would be hearing or reading about very soon.”
Sources tell the Daily Beast that, “the president specifically mentioned he’d been in close contact with his top national-security and military advisers on gaming out options for an aggressive action that could quickly materialize.”
