Report: McConnell Called Trump in December, Told Him He Lost, Then Hung Up on Him

Mitch McConnell doesn’t like Donald Trump. That has never been hard for anyone to see. To the former senate majority leader, Trump was a useful idiot who had outgrown his usefulness.

In December, McConnell was hoping to hold on to control of the senate. Trump, however, was poisoning the water in Georgia with his constant voter fraud claims. In an attempt to get the former president to stop, the Kenucky senator gave him a call.

According to Peril, by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, McConnell called Trump after congratulating Joe Biden on winning the election. The authors note, “Trump insisted he had won, uttered expletives and accused him of disloyalty. McConnell responded, ‘You lost the election’ and hung up.”

There has been no love lost between the two men since then. In April, Trump said of McConnell, “We need good leadership. Mitch McConnell has not done a great job. I think they should change Mitch McConnell.” When asked to comment on Trump, the Kentucky senator replied, “We’re looking to the future, not the past.”
