Michigan Congressman, Justin Amash, has never been shy about making his thoughts known on different political issues. That includes a willingness to vote against popular conservative issues that don’t meet his standard.
Amash took a big step this weekend, however, by claiming that after reading the Mueller Report, he feels that Donald Trump should be impeached. According to The Hill, there is growing buzz that Amash could change his party affiliation to Libertarian and run for President in 2020.
Libertarian National Campaign chairman, Nicholas Sarwark, said, ““There are a lot of Libertarian Party members actively encouraging Rep. Amash to switch parties and seek the Libertarian nomination. This is probably the most organized recruitment effort I’ve seen going back to 2012 when people were trying to recruit Ron Paul.”
The question becomes, what is Amash’s level of interest? The congressman has said in the past that he feels Trump is causing the GOP to pull away from their principals.
Trump doesn’t seem to be worried about the possibility. Following Amash’s tweets this weekend, the President responded, “Never a fan of Justin Amash, a total lightweight who opposes me and some of our great Republican ideas and policies just for the sake of getting his name out there through controversy. If he actually read the biased Mueller Report, “composed” by 18 Angry Dems who hated Trump.”

Libertarians, though, feel that Amash could really hurt Trump in his the Congressman’s home state of Michigan. “I don’t think Trump can win Michigan if Amash is running,” said Sarwark. “They’d have to take it off the board.”
