Donald Trump has run through surrogates and administration officials at an alarming rate. He does have some constants that remain around him like members of his family and Kellyanne Conway.
Another figure who has been around the President since the very beginning is former New York City Mayor, Rudy Giuliani. According to a new report from Politico, Giuliani is expected to play in important role in Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign.

Giuliani is reportedly set the meet with the President soon to discuss his potential role. One source noted that the former mayor helps to keep Trump loose. “The president is most effective when he’s in a great mood and he’s having fun on the campaign trial and Rudy adds to that,” said the campaign adviser. I think he has the potential to be very effective in certain circumstances.”
The lawyer is also well known for frequently making costly errors. These mistakes often upset the President, but not the the point where he would fire his surrogate. Giuliani says the media is to blame for this reputation:
“I do have a mastery of the facts, which is why I can spin them honestly, argue them several different ways,” he explained. “The problem is people don’t understand, or people don’t want to understand, alternative arguing, which is what you do in court all the time. People who want to understand it, do.”
Regardless of his reputation, the President’s values both Giuliani’s support and his friendship. According to the lawyer, Trump will sometimes refer to him as, “my Rudy.”
