In the months following the attacks, Republicans have done everything they can to minimize the seriousness of the 1/6 insurrection. The majority of GOP lawmakers have also voted down any attempts at investigating the events that lef up to the riots.

But on January 6th and the immediate days after, many Republicans had a much different take on what happened that day. And according to a new book report from the Washington Post, Lindsey Graham was calling on Capitol police to shoot the rioters.
Philip Rucker writes:
“The Senate and House leaders also had been evacuated by Capitol Police and taken to an undisclosed location, but many lawmakers remained in their chambers for a few minutes before they were led to safety in the Hart Senate Office Building. Sen. Lindsey O. Graham was irate that senators were forced to flee their own chamber. He yelled at the Senate sergeant-at-arms. ‘What are you doing? Take back the Senate! You’ve got guns. Use them.’ The South Carolina senator was adamant. ‘We give you guns for a reason,’ he repeated. “Use them.”
Graham was clearly upset following the incident. Days after, he said from the senate floor, “[Trump and I had] a hell of a journey. I hate it to end this way. Oh, my god, I hate it.”
Of course, just weeks later the spineless senator was playing golf with the former president. And now he claims that Trump must be the future of the Republican party if it is to succeed.
