Report: Donald Trump May Pardon Former Campaign Chief Steve Bannon

Donald Trump isn’t enjoying much about his job these days, but he does like to give pardons to friends. Trump enjoys the pardon process so much, in fact, that it’s hard to think of people has hasn’t already absolved.

Enter Steve Bannon. Bannon and Trump have a bit of a rocky history as the President fired his adviser early on in his term. There are reports, though, that the two men have been talking lately with Bannon advising Trump on how to overturn the election results.

Bannon’s overture to mend the fences may have an ulterior motive. According to a new report from Politico, the President may pardon his former campaign head prior to leaving office.

The former Trump adviser is accused of swindling donors via a campaign to build a border wall. Bannon was arrested back in August of 2020, but has yet to stand trial.

When asked about the arrest back in August, Trump took a shot at his former campaign head. He told reporters, “It’s a very sad thing by Mr. Bannon… I didn’t like that project. I thought it was a project being done for showboating reasons. I didn’t want a wall that was going to be an inferior wall. It was something I very much felt was inappropriate to be doing.”
