Rashida Tlaib Announces Plan to File Impeachment Resolution
From the moment she took office, Freshman Congresswoman, Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), has made her presence felt. She faced controversy in January when she told a crowd they were going to, “impeach the motherf*cker (Trump). Tlaib will now attempt to make good on her promise. Today, she announced the introduction of a resolution to impeach the president.
Tlaib said during a news conference, “Later on this month, I will be joining folks and advocates across the country to file the impeachment resolution to start the impeachment proceedings.”
This is not the first time a Democratic lawmaker introduced this type of resolution. Congressman, Steve Cohen (D-TN) introduced articles of impeachment in November of 2017. This is, however, the first time articles have been introduced since the Democrats have gained majority control over the U.S. House Of Representatives.
Tlaib understands her fellow congresspeople may not feel the timing is right for this action. She explained, “I think every single colleague of mine agrees there are impeachable offenses. That’s one thing that we all agree on. We may disagree on the pace.”
The congresswoman continued, “We have to also look into how the President has obstructed justice. He has basically been able to bully his way to get his way. It’s not in the best interests of the American people.”
Republicans are gearing up for the impeachment fight. House Judiciary Chairman, Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), announced a large scale investigation into the president on Monday.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders responded to Nadler’s announcement with a statement of her own. The statement accused Democrats of running a fishing expedition. The tweet also accused Democrats of, “killing babies after they are born.”

The White House has yet to respond to Tlaib’s announcement.
