Rand Paul Says “Karen” Harassed Him At Gym For Not Wearing A Mask

Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul had quite the dust-up with Dr. Anthony Fauci this week over the issue of mask wearing, accusing the country’s leading infectious disease expert of playing “theater” by encouraging people to continue wearing face coverings even after they’ve been vaccinated.

According to Paul, however, the Senate hearing room wasn’t the only place last week that he got into a heated disagreement over the issue of face masks. Appearing Friday night on Tucker Carlson’s show Paul claimed that he was harassed by a “Karen” while using a treadmill at a gym without wearing a mask.

“I was on the treadmill the other day and some Karen goes and tells the people ‘he’s on a treadmill and he’s running without a mask,'” Paul sneered during the interview. “Is this the world we’re going to live in, where everyone is reporting everyone and the Gestapo is going to come arrest you?”

Paul also took the opportunity on Fox to continue to try to undermine Fauci’s medical authority. “There are no news reports and no scientific studies saying that after vaccination that there is some sort of widespread contagion that people vaccinated are spreading the disease,” Paul said. “What Fauci won’t tell you is that he’s telling you a noble lie.” Fauci maintains that the mutant variants of the coronavirus make it absolutely necessary for the continued use of masks in public.

But, back to the gym issue. Recall that in April 2020 Paul contracted COVID-19 but still thought it was a good idea use the Senate gym to work out while he was contagious. His fellow senators roundly criticized him for it. The questions have to be asked: 1) Did the harassment by “Karen” take place in the Senate gym? 2) Was the harassing “Karen” a member of Congress? 3) Why would Paul pay for a separate gym membership when the congressional facility is a free perk of being a member? 4) Did the incident even really take place or did the GOP senator just conjure it up, a la Donald Trump, to try to make political points?
