Rand Paul Promises To Sabotage Any Attempt To Enact Life-Saving COVID-19 Precautions
Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) is over COVID-19, it seems, and not just in the medical sense. He’s standing up against any precautions that might be implemented to protect America from the COVID-19 pandemic, and promising to use amendments and defunding to sabotage any effort other legislators might make to fight this virus.
In the clip below, Paul throws out some strawmen, suggesting that Nancy Pelosi would have him and his staff arrested for “doing our jobs,” and that Biden plans to enact lockdown measures. He also addresses some things that have actually happened, such as remote work and part-time in-person schedules for public schools, as well as mask mandates.
He promises that he will sabotage all of these with a few amendments to any bill that comes through the Senate, defunding Federal agencies that allow remote work instead of requiring in-person appearances, defunding schools that attempt to offer part-time or remote education, and returning to a conservative favorite, “school choice,” which is used to funnel public funding to private schools that may not be required to meet the same standards imposed on public schools.
Rand Paul today: “It’s time for us to resist. They can’t arrest all of us .. No one should follow the CDC.” He then says he will introduce amendments to defund any govt agency that seeks to enforce CDC guidelines, including schools. pic.twitter.com/PYOQtKDYBN

Not only does Paul promise to use his political power to stop measures that might be implemented to respond to that pandemic, he’s also calling for regular people to ‘resist’ as well, telling his audience that they can ignore mask mandates, which he calls “anti-science,” and ignore CDC recommendations. “We don’t have to accept the mandates, lockdowns,” Paul declares, assuring his listeners that children are “not at any more risk from COVID than they are from the seasonal flu.”
Early indicators suggest that with the Delta variant in particular, this is far from true, and hospitalizations of young children are on the rise.
