Raffensperger, Georgia Election Official Negotiating Talks With Jan 6th Committee

With the first of six televised hearings just hours away, Axios reported Thursday that Georgia’s Secretary of State and top election official are now in talks to testify in front of the January 6th House Select Committee for one of the live broadcasts.

Brad Raffensperger and Gabriel Sterling, who have been targeted by Donald Trump after they refused to go along with his scheme to overturn his loss to Joe Biden in Georgia,  publicly debunked the claims the election was stolen. Both Raffensperger and Sterling reportedly spoke privately with the House Select Committee late last year. It would also not be the first time the two have testified about Trump’s attempts to recruit him to overturn the election.

Raffensperger spoke to a special grand jury last week as part of the Atlanta district attorney‘s probe of Trump’s election schemes in Georgia.
Sterling plans to testify to the grand jury as well as other Raffensperger staffers.

It has yet to be determined which hearing the two will take part in, but they will appear together as part of a panel. Sterling quipped to the press that “of course” they would show up, as one should if one receives a Congressional subpoena. Sterling also made headlines when his eerily prescient predictions of violence in Trump’s name came true a little over a month after he spoke to the press about Trump’s refusal to accept the results of the election.

The House Select Committee’s first televised hearing will air Thursday night at 8 pm EST/5 pm PST. Your writer will be live-tweeting @taradublinrocks.
