America’s anger was turned up a notch last night as MSNBC’s Prime Time star, Rachel Maddow discussed the Trump Administration’s policy of separating young children from their parents at our souther border. What started off as a normal show, quickly took a turn when Maddow began reading an AP report about babies and young children being sent off to shelters.
Maddow read: “Trump administration officials have been sending babies and other young children to at least three tender-age shelters in South Texas. Lawyers and medical providers…,” she then Maddow then became so distraught that she could not even finish her sentence, at which point she handed her show off to Lawrence O’Donnell, because the 10 o’clock hour had begun. Below is the Associated Press passage that she was trying to get through:
Trump administration officials have been sending babies and other young children forcibly separated from their parents at the U.S.-Mexico border to at least three “tender age” shelters in South Texas, The Associated Press has learned.
Lawyers and medical providers who have visited the Rio Grande Valley shelters described play rooms of crying preschool-age children in crisis. The government also plans to open a fourth shelter to house hundreds of young migrant children in Houston, where city leaders denounced the move Tuesday.
The Trump administration continues to drag their feet over what’s going on, shifting blame to Democrats for not working in congress on a comprehensive immigration reform bill. Democrats have, however, put together a bill which would immediately end the separation of families, but not a single Republican, nor the President have signed on.
