Q-Anon Supports Matt Gaetz Amidst Underaged Sex Allegations

Q-anon sells itself as anti-pedophile, with the entire conspiracy theory centering around the false belief that former President Donald Trump is secretly rooting out a ring of child sex traffickers in U.S. government and Hollywood. However, when actual accusations surface, like those against Trump himself, adherents of the conspiracy seem to be on the defense.

Matt Gaetz has been accused of a sexual relationship with an underaged girl, in which he allegedly paid for her travel across state lines. He’s denied this vehemently, claiming he’s the real victim, and that the U.S. Department of Justice has proof, if they’ll only release it.

However, Raw Story reports, in light of these allegations, believers on q-anon forums aren’t turning on Gaetz, or calling for a thorough investigation and withholding judgment until the results are available. Instead, they’re defending Gaetz.

They instead tell Gaetz to “hang in there” and suggest the FBI is part of the so-called “deep state” and a participant in an unfair smear against the congressman. They’ve even delved deep into projection, claiming that this is somehow a cover-up for Democrats, who they believe are the real pedophiles.

Meanwhile, more allegations may be coming — on Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox, Gaetz himself said that there are allegedy photos of him with child prostitutes, an allegation that no other source had made publicly to that point.

Still, even Gaetz’ own words don’t seem to sway q-anon, despite their supposed mission to support the stamping out of child sex crimes and bring the guilty to justice. They’ve made it clear they’re sticking with Gaetz through this.
