President Donald Trump on Sunday sent out a tweet in which he said DACA is “probably dead.” In his tweet, the President blamed Democrats for not doing enough to save the program they created.
“DACA is probably dead because the Democrats don’t really want it, they just want to talk and take desperately needed money away from our Military,” the 45th POTUS declared.
Several minutes later Trump used his tweet to once again focus on his #America First agenda.
“I, as President, want people coming into our Country who are going to help us become strong and great again, people coming in through a system based on MERIT. No more Lotteries! #AMERICA FIRST.”
The carefully calculated tweets were delivered only hours after the Trump administration started receiving renewal applications for “Dreamers” under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
Applications started arriving immediately after a federal court blocked the administration from ending the program that was put in place by the Obama administration.
Under DACA, undocumented immigrants are protected from deportation if they were brought to the United States as children.
In September, the Trump administration said it would end the program and in March 2018, DACA protected individuals would lose their protected status.
On Saturday, Trump attempted to place blame on Democrats, claiming they were not doing enough to save DACA.
Trump previously claimed he would seek a bipartisan proposal but then derided his own claims by stating that he didn’t want immigrants from “shithole countries.”
Despite Trump’s claims, Democrats have pushed to provide more funding for border security in exchange for the continuation of the DREAMERS Act.
Welcome to the Red State…
