President Trump Says Hiring Jeff Sessions Was A Bad Move
President Donald Trump on Wednesday took a shot at U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions. The 45th POTUS said in a tweet that there are many good lawyers in the country and he could have made a better choice.
The President’s regret was sent out in an early morning tweet to his 52.3 million followers.
….There are lots of really good lawyers in the country, he could have picked somebody else!” And I wish I did!

Trump’s tweet was delivered shortly after South Carolina’s Trey Gowdy told CBS that Trump, “could have picked somebody else” for the position.
Gowdy’s statement was made after he was asked if Trump may have obstructed justice when he asked Sessions in March 2017 to reverse the decision that recused him from the Russia probe, as reported by The New York Times.
The South Carolina Republican attempted to stand up for Trump, claiming the President was only venting his “frustration over the recusal.
It’s Not The First Time
Trump has been at odds with Jeff Sessions almost since nominating him for the AG post. Trump’s criticism has flown since at least July 2017 when he told The Times Sessions would not have been chosen if he knew a recusal was on the way.
Sessions didn’t really have a choice in announcing his recusal. In March 2017 it was revealed that Sessions had direct contact with a Russian ambassador, a conflict of interest.
Since that time, Trump has called Sessions “beleaguered” and in February referred to him as “Mr. Magoo” during a closed-door meeting reported by The Washington Post.
White House sources have claimed on numerous occasions that Trump is frustrated by what he sees as Sessions’ inability to protect him.
In the meantime, Jeff Sessions has offered no hints that he may eventually resign from his post.
