President Obama Will Return to the White House…to Celebrate Health Care Reform [VIDEO]

Former President Barack Obama will return to the White House on Tuesday for the first time since he left office to promote the Affordable Care Act in an event alongside President Joe Biden, a White House official said. Vice President Kamala Harris will join them in delivering remarks about the expansion of health care benefits under the law, as well as President Biden’s efforts to further reduce health care costs and expand access to care.

The celebration of the 2010 health care overhaul will be the first joint appearance between President Biden and President Obama since they attended events commemorating the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, attacks at Ground Zero in New York last fall, and their first joint appearance in Washington since President Biden’s inauguration in January 2021.

President Obama will also be joined by Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra and other members of the Cabinet, which includes a number of people who served in the Obama administration, are also expected to attend. Obama will deliver remarks celebrating the success of the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid in extending affordable health insurance to millions of Americans as a part of President Biden’s agenda to cut costs for American families, according to the White House. “The President will take additional action to further strengthen the ACA and save families hundreds of dollars a month on their health care,” the White House said in a statement.

Twitter users certainly seemed delighted by the idea of the reunion, as sightings of the favorite pair have been so few and far between.

This won’t be the only time we’ll see President Obama back in his old digs. Obama is likely to return to the White House again soon for the unveiling of his and former first lady Michelle Obama’s official presidential portraits.
