President Donald Trump’s “ignorant remarks” towards South Korea are causing tensions to grow between the two countries.
Trump has angered officials in the country with remarks he previously made on Twitter. This time it was an interview that led to further tensions.
During an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Trump was sharing a conversation he had with Chinese leader Xi Jinping about the history of China and Korea.
While recounting the conversation Trump said, “… Korea actually used to be a part of China.”
Trump didn’t clarify if that historically inaccurate statement was a quote from Xi Jingping or Trump misunderstood him.
People throughout South Korea have said his “ignorant remarks” show the U.S. President’s total lack of understanding when it comes to the international arena.
