Letitia James has been a national figure since the night she was elected. That night, she promised voters that she would do a deep dive into the Trump Organization and their dealings.
That wasn’t the only high profile case that James has been involved. She has threatened the National Rifle Association and talked about her hopes to bankrupt the organization. James also ran an investigation into fellow Democrat Andrew Cuomo which ended in his resignation. And with her profile nice and high, James will not run for Governor of New York.
Main Street Law’s Tristan Snell confirmed the news on Wednesday, tweeting, “BREAKING – NY AG Tish James is running for governor.”

Rumors of James’ plans have been running hot and heavy over the last 24 hours or so. Democrat state senator Brad Hoylman thinks the AG’s probe into Cuomo could set her apart as a candidate. He told the New York Times:
“It’s going to be a definitive moment to have a sitting governor challenged by the current attorney general from the same party who are both history-making in their own right. This is the beginning of understanding the differences in the candidates and where they stand on different issues and how they differ in their governing philosophies, so we’re really at the beginning of what’s going to be a very fast-moving, but compressed calendar.”
