Political Payback: Trump Pardons Jeanine Pirro’s Ex-Husband Al

Few Presidents have enjoyed having pardon power quite like Donald Trump. The President issued his last string on pardons up until the last hour of his presidency.

As usual, celebrities like rappers Lil Wayne and Kodak Black were given special treatment. And so were political allies like Elliot Broidy and Steve Bannon. Trump was even able to payback his biggest fan, Jeanine Pirro, by giving a pardon to her ex-husband Al.

Just a half hour before the Trump presidency ended, CNN’s Jim Sciutto wrote, “President Donald Trump granted one additional pardon in the final hours of his presidency to Albert J. Pirro, Jr., ex-husband of Trump ally and Fox News personality Judge Jeanine Pirro. He was convicted on conspiracy and tax evasion charges.”

Al Pirro was initially indicted, “on one count of conspiracy, four counts of tax evasion, and 28 counts of filing a false tax return for hiding over $1 million in personal income as business expenses between 1988 and 1997.” He was later sentenced to 29 months in prison and ended up serving 17 months in total.
