People Share The Worst Things Their Bosses Did To Them

1. Sorry Not Sorry

Last job (I now run my own business). I quit and gave my boss 30 days' notice. I timed this, politely, at the beginning of our pay cycle. Because I'm nice.

Figured it was easier on everyone with the paperwork.

He calls me up at 8 a.m. at the end of the first 2 weeks (payday). "I'm only paying you 50% for the next (last) 2 weeks"

Even though I had an email confirmation of my expectation to work and be paid for 30 days.

"Okay" I said, "I'll only work 50%".

He was shocked when I only worked 4 hours a day for the next two weeks.

2. Take It or Leave It

I got another job offer for a position that paid about 50% more than what I was currently making.

My supervisor made a counteroffer that more than matched it - I just had to jump through some paperwork formalities. That paperwork gets dragged out for about 2 months when I'm told that the supervisor didn't have the authority to make that kind of counteroffer.

Instead, I was told 10%, take it or leave it.

I had the offer in writing but it wasn't an official document - fighting it would have been a long uphill battle. I took the 10%, found another job, and left without helping train a replacement with no damns given. The new job was even higher than the original offer, so it all worked out.

3. The Look of Disgust

Today was supposed to be my last day. I worked 3 hours of my shift Monday when I threw up and had a fever. I went to my boss letting him know I needed to leave (major health code violation if I didn't since it's a restaurant.) He got angry and told me to grab all my stuff and get out.

I figured it was just a tantrum and showed up Tuesday for my shift. I will never forget the look of disgust this man I respected gave me when he saw me. He shook his head and said no while looking at me like I was the devil because I dared leave.

1.5 years with the company, part of the original team, one of the first people he told about his plans to propose to his girlfriend, pretty much like family, none of that meant anything to him.

Thankfully the job I'm moving to offers me health benefits, PTO, regular raises, and travel.

4. Bye Bye Valentine

I was fired from a serving job for calling in sick on Valentine's Day (a busy day for us).

The thing is, I had strep throat and a doctor's note. A few months later a co-worker filed a complaint with the labor board for wage theft and the labor board called me looking for more info to use in the case against him. I told them about why I was fired.

A year after being fired, I got another call from the labor board saying that they had won the case and I had a settlement check to pick up from their office.

The restaurant owner had to pay me sick pay for the week I would have legally had to be out sick plus lost wages for the week after that that I was job hunting/unemployed. It was a $1000 check. Plus he had to take classes on labor laws.

As an additional win for me, I met my boyfriend/future husband at the job I got after he fired me. Sometimes it's better to burn those bridges.

5. The Unexpected Snowstorm

One spring morning my city was hit with a freak snowstorm right before morning rush hour. Several inches of wet snow fell quickly and snarled traffic all over town.

At the major insurance company I worked for at the time, about 1/3 of the staff said screw it and just stayed home. The rest of us all arrived for work anywhere from one to three hours late.

In the days following the storm, all the people who stayed home were stressed about how the company would deal with the unexcused absences.

They were all hoping they would catch a break and be allowed to use a vacation day instead of being docked a day's pay and getting dinged on their next performance review.

When the next payday came around, we got a memo with our stubs explaining that all the employees who stayed home would be given an excused absence and paid in full, while the rest of us were docked for the time we were late for work.

This happened thirty years ago, and I still can't talk about it without sputtering.

6. Snow Days at Work

My employer has closed due to snow/ice combos 2x in the last 3-4 years. The first time, I was still in overachiever mode. It was also the first shift they were open for after being closed for Christmas. I also lived an hour away.

My car was covered in about an inch of ice, but I spent all day (I worked nights) chipping the ice off, and clearing the driveway. I left 2 hours early, stressed about losing my holiday pay, and still showed up an hour late.

The company decided to close for the next day at 4 a.m. and sent us all home. Everyone who called in got the day approved and full pay.

Everyone who came in late not only lost their holiday pay but also the time they were late.

Ended up costing me 25 hours of pay (2 12-hour holiday days for Christmas, Christmas Eve, and the hour I was late.

The second time the weather was shitty like that? I called in, even though I lived right around the corner. Even if they hadn't ended up paying us, I had the vacation time to cover it.

7. Dismissive HR Response

I'm colorblind. My boss assigned me a work task once that was color-coded in a way that I couldn't see. When I brought up my vision issues -- not refusing to do the work, but asking for accommodation.

I was written up for what they perceived as "insubordination".

When I filed a complaint with HR asking for the write-up to be removed, the HR rep "graciously" gave me what she perceived as a solution: that I should go use the company's Tuition Reimbursement program to take a remedial art class at my local community college. "So that you can finally learn your colors", she said.

8. The Blacklist

I interned in state government while I studied for the bar exam. I took the exam and kept interning while awaiting results.

Meantime, my wife got a job in the city we'd both grown up in and wanted to return to, so we planned to move. I gave my two-week notice and offered to train a replacement.

The intern coordinator fired me instead and called me unprofessional.

Fast forward a few months. I passed the bar and interviewed for a state government job that I thought would be perfect for me.

Went really well. Then I was called a week later and told they passed my name up the chain (this job requires approval from the Governor's office) but it was rejected because I was on a government employment blacklist.

I am permanently barred from state government employment because I gave two weeks' notice and offered to train a replacement for a low-skill internship that could've replaced me by the end of the day.

9. Hurts To Be The Best

My friend's dad was a regional manager for a very popular bank. At 19, he got me a job as a bank teller. In my first year, I did well and led the branch in sales. The branch was to be closed so I asked him to transfer me closer to home.

I was transferred to this new branch with the bank manager who has already been there for 35 years. He happened to be good friends with my friend's father. It was strange that we had the same personality types and same interests. It started off great, but he began to seemingly resent me. I don't know why, I think he saw a lot of himself in me and was jealous that I was better than him.

Anyway, I was still a bank teller and killed it in sales for 2 years, leading my branch and always top 3 in the region. I was 22-23 at this time and figured it was time to move up and be a banker.

I went up to my resentful boss and he said that a promotion is not in the cards right now because I have not been consistent with my sales and that I am too free-spirited (as he describes himself, too).

He said, if I become more consistent with my sales, he will consider it. I know, it's stupid. I've been the most consistent bank teller in sales for 2 years in my region, but whatever. I went balls to the walls for 4 months.

I ranked in the top 20 not in my region, state, or even country, but all of North America for those 4 months. That is an incredible achievement that put me in like the .006 percentile for my position.

I went back up to him. I was prepared. He knew how well I had been doing and how well his branch had been doing because of me. However, he said he thought I was just not cut out to be a banker that our branch was too busy and I needed more experience.

I was prepared for a denial so I told him I was going to switch to part-time. I did that and finished university and quit shortly after to travel.

After traveling, I was immediately offered a job as a banker at a different bank. What did I do in my first quarter there? Lead the region in sales.

I still hate that manager. I feel like he personally stole years off my life, fighting for something that he knew he was never going to grant me, all while reaping the rewards of my labor.

Though I must say I like the direction my life has turned and if it wasn't for him, I might still be grinding away

10. Setting Up for Failure

Last week my boss gave me a difficult task with an impossible time frame.

When the time was up and I said I needed another day to finish, he got all cocky and went "I know. I don't need it until tomorrow. But I told you I need it today because if I told you I needed it tomorrow you'd say you couldn't get it done until Monday."

When I told him that's not true, he pointed to the fact that I was unable to do the task in his just recently admitted impossible time frame as evidence that I wouldn't have finished it on time if he'd told me when he actually needed it.

So, setting me up for failure, and then using the fact that I failed as evidence to say I'm a shitty employee. Ain't management grand.

11. A Tale of Employer Deception

I put in a Resume for a new job. IT Director.

Met with the owner, and we hit it off. Gave him my desired Salary (54K). He didn't care for it. I left and went about my business. I wasn't in a hurry for a job.

4 months later he called me back and said he'd like to sit down with me again. He mentioned that he can't meet my Salary request, but we could work out other benefits in its place. I was more than open to this idea.

So we sat down and decided to knock off about 5K in salary in favor of the company paying for my cell phone, and a better-than-standard vacation package.

Now, this company has been around forever, but they never updated their vacation package. It is terrible for new employees. Basically, you have no vacation for your first year, at all. Once your second year starts, you start accumulating days off. So basically, by the end of your second year, you now have 5 days off. If you were there for 10 years, you got a second week.

So I said I wanted two weeks right out of the gate. He agreed but asked me to be very quiet about this arrangement as it could potentially anger other employees. No... I didn't get it in writing.

6 months later, my wife and I have planned our very first out-of-country vacation. Beach. Cozumel. All-inclusive. A month before said vacation I reminded my boss (the owner) that I would be taking some vacation time and that I'll need to use those vacation days we discussed when I got hired on.

He "had no recollection" of such an agreement. "We've always had the same vacation plan for every employee, so we wouldn't have given you special treatment."

I argued with him. It didn't do much good. By the end of the conversation, he agreed to let me take 5 days of unpaid vacation and thus would dock my first post-vacation paycheck.

I had resumes out by the end of the week.

Thankfully I'm skillful enough in my jobset that finding another job of near equal value was pretty easy.

12. Workplace Aggression

My boss started pushing me around and roughing me up in front of customers because 'I was in his way'.

Ended up with a cut to the eye.

13. Unwanted Encounter

14. The Dumb Boss

My former boss didn't understand basic math, and we were all underpaid because of it.

For example, if I worked 7hrs 30min he would pay me for 7.3 hrs instead of 7.5.

It doesn't seem like much, but it added up quickly.

I figured it out after looking at my paychecks closer, and it took weeks to explain to him how he was wrong.

Luckily I was reimbursed, and my coworkers were also (he begged me not to tell anyone).

15. Blowing the Whistle

I warned our company's directors of blatant customer credit card fraud as well as time card fraud that resulted in people getting paid for hours they spent in restaurants, coffee shops, and movie theaters.

I got fired for it.

Firing me split the company in half and people started bailing right and left after that. The company folded less than a year later for the exact reasons I'd warned them about.

16. A Mother's Struggle for Justice

I got pregnant while working for a small subcontracting company. I told my boss (I was assistant to the VP) and let them know I'd need to take a few weeks off after I gave birth. So the VP hired an "assistant" to cover my duties while I was gone.

I gave birth and took the week off and then an additional week with the baby for a total of 2 weeks of leave. I returned to work for a bit until my newborn son got sick. Very, very sick. He was hospitalized for almost a week.

I missed 3 days of work because of this and the day I returned,

I was fired, and guess who replaced me?

The person who I basically trained to do my job, "my assistant". Taught me a life lesson there, never train someone to do your job.

Bonus: The company was running out of money, and fired others as well without warnings, cause, etc.

I filed for unemployment, along with others, and was subsequently denied. The VP and managers submitted forged timesheets, and our signatures on the cards, and said the employees who were fired were termed due to being late three or more days in a row and were warned.

17. A Tearful Goodbye

When I was 20 I was working at a gas station. My grandma became very very ill and we thought this was 'it'. I was advised to head to the city 3 hours away ASAP to say goodbye.

I was bawling and asked for a few days off. I got them. My grandma got well enough that we realized she would probably be ok. I was only gone 2 days and I was going to work my days off to make them up.

I walked into work and my boss asked in a very snarky voice "Did your Grandma die?"

I said "No" and she said "Oh that's too bad" and walked away. I was shocked/horrified/crushed and started crying again. She later told me to "Get over it 'cause it was just a joke".

I quit less than a week later.

18. Family First

I worked at a pizza joint in high school and my grandfather was dying of cancer. He took a turn for the worse, and we were told that we needed to say our goodbyes while we still could.

My father, who never approved of me taking time off, suggested I call my manager about taking the night off to go to the hospital.

She told me, "If you don't want to work just say so. I don't need your stories."

My jaw dropped and I hung up the phone. Dad asked what happened so I told him what my manager said. He got pissed! He told me to grab my uniform and get in the car.

He drove me to work, walked in with me, threw my uniform on the counter, and told my manager, "My daughter doesn't need your shit. She quits. We're going to go say goodbye to her grandfather now if that's alright with you."

19. The Gas Station Shift That Never Ended

I quit a job at a gas station after working 32 hours straight over New Year's because I switched shifts with the afternoon guy and then the overnight guy quit with no notice.

Called my manager at 11:30 pm on New Year’s Eve, after no one showed up to relieve me at 11, and she was at a party with a bunch of other managers and the district manager and they basically told me to piss off and if I left the store unlocked and anything got stolen I was responsible for it.

I was also 16 at the time, so it was illegal for me to work overnight by myself, but no one cared.

My manager was too hungover on New Year's Day to show up for her shift at 7 a.m., so I ended up staying and in total worked almost 32 hours straight.

20. The Great Recession's Corporate Opportunists

My last employer took the cake. They took every advantage they could possibly think of during the Great Recession.

After laying off 80% of the staff, they cut the rest of our pay by 20% and chanted "Just be happy you even have a job!" to any issue posed to them. No matter how shitty they treated you that was the response.

Over the next few years, they also took away insurance, PTO, holidays, etc. I could work 80 hours in a week, take off Friday, and get 4/5s pay. Worse was that they expected us to make up the time we were being docked.

for. e.g. for one holiday, they tried getting people to come in the Sunday before to make up for the lost time, but then docked pay for the holiday still.

They even once told me I needed to start working more when I was already doing 55-60 a week

They started hiring only contract labor, so they wouldn't have to provide unemployment. To avoid getting in trouble they would lay off and hire every so often.

What's worse is that I figured out they were profitable. They were basing their demands on falling short of projected targets, not actually losing money. ... a.k.a. bullshit numbers made up to justify bullying involuntary donations from the employees for added margin.

21. Robbed of Tips and Dignity

Once I got robbed when I was working for a certain fatherly pizza chain, when I got back to the store afterward, the manager said that he was going to withhold my tips to replace the money that was from the store and give drivers for change.

This happened early in my shift so I hadn't racked up much so he told me I had still to pay the remaining difference of the money stolen and pay for the order that was undelivered (because it was stolen)

I told the manager to piss off and left.

22. Unwanted Advances and Unjust Consequences

A co-worker old enough to be my dad made advances on me that I clearly did not want. Like, he followed me to a bar uninvited and hit on me. I let my husband know and he politely reminded the guy while he went through his line that I was married and not up for grabs.

Management threw a fit my husband said something to him and then told me I was being promiscuous by being too nice and polite to the guy(worked at a grocery store and absolutely had to be nice to everyone).

They then attempted to ban my husband from the store and wrote me up instead. They never did anything to the guy.

I wound up being fired for something I said off the clock and outside of the building while chatting with a co-worker who had nothing to do with work. Someone overheard me cuss and got me fired. I was making $15 an hour.

23. From Heartache to Pizza Heist

Last summer my best friend (and also my Grandfather) was seriously ill and coming to the end of his life with kidney failure. I worked part-time at a garden center at the time while also managing my studies, for about a month I spent every night at the hospital by his bedside and only left for work.

Every day at work, I would explain to my boss what was going on and that at some point in the next few days, I would be letting him know that I needed some time off.

Anyway, days went on, and my grandpa was immensely strong-willed and lasted much longer than expected (doctors were absolutely fascinated by it), the day came and he finally passed away.

My sister broke the news to me via phone call.

I was at work at the time and immediately walked over to my boss and explained what happened and that I needed to go and be with my family.

He looked at me and laughed while explaining "You've already spent enough time with him this month, do you think I'd let you go see the person who's made you this tired the past month?", and he left the shop explaining that if I didn't stay to finish and close up properly I "needn't come back tomorrow".

As an act of revenge, as soon as he left I closed the gates to the center, ordered in £100's worth of dominos with the company card, and brought all the pizzas to my family. Never seen him again.

24. Unrewarding Loyalty

Four years with a company and I was paid the same rate I was hired at.

The company was going through some hard times and had high turnover, so I was managing a team of eight and running the office on top of my own responsibilities.

I asked for a raise for managing the office, and the owner said: "You don't do that. The Clinic Director does." I informed him that we hadn't had a clinic director in over 18 months, and he said, "But you will have one! I can't make permanent changes based on temporary situations."

I left and got a 67% raise.

His solution was to give me 24 hours over 6 -7 days a week.

26. Caught in a Maze

I started out as a temp worker at my last job. While I was temping they posted the job for applications and I applied. I figured I'd get the job for sure since I'd already been doing it for three months.

I got an interview, all went well. Well, a week or so later I'm told that they decided to hire someone else, but that they would like for me to stay on for 2 extra weeks to train the new person. WTF?

They didn't want to hire me for the position but I'm good enough to train the new person.

I called the temp agency and let them know what was going on and asked them to find me something else as soon as possible.

Well a few days later I was still temping, and my supervisor called me in to let me know that the lady they offered the job to took a different position so they are now offering it to me.

I should have known better but I went ahead and took the job because permanent employment paid better. I was there for 4 years and barely got out without a nervous breakdown.

28. Unjust Wage Cuts

I worked as a fry cook at a fish joint, back when the minimum wage was around $5.25 or so. I was a sophomore in high school.

One day, without discussion, warning, etc. my pay was cut from $6/hr to $3/hr with tips.

Nobody said anything until the new rate showed up on our paychecks. The way the restaurant was set up, there was zero table service and you couldn’t get tipped.

The worst part, the owner didn't compensate the difference if you didn't tip out equal to minimum wage. Essentially, I made $3 an hour. 100% illegal on the owner's part.

I quit damn near immediately, and never got to save up for my own car the way I wanted to before graduating because of that prick.

30. End of a Toxic Chapter

I was once told by my immediate supervisor that I was being demoted, so my pay was decreasing by $1 the day before payday.

I asked him when that went into effect since I was still doing the job I had been promoted for. He told me he didn't know but he'd look into it. The very next day, I got my paycheck, and they had already cut my wage for the 2 weeks I just got paid for, and then for the week that I had just worked.

I made an HR complaint, but the owner basically said that it was my word against his. They were both scum lords.

The same boss told me on multiple occasions that "things just weren't working out" and that I should just "pack up and go home" trying to make it sound like he was firing me because he wanted me to leave the premises so he could then fire me for job abandonment.

HOWEVER - when I did finally quit, the sales team that I was managing (promoted again, and got my raise back) won the monthly contest. The Owner took us out to bowling on a Friday, bought us all lunch, and then sent us home, paid, for the rest of the day.

I went home, wrote him an e-mail and told him that I quit.

32. The Office Sick Day Debacle

I worked in a small office doing both HR and Payroll (two supervisors). I had the flu, but I came in because it was a payroll processing week, and people needed to get paid.

My manager saw how sick I was, emailed me to go home, and said she would process the payroll. She didn't.

Then she had the nerve to file a complaint with HR saying I left early on my own and neglected my work, so payroll wasn't processed, so I had to have a meeting with her, my HR supervisor, and the controller.

I didn't say anything to her prior to the meeting because she apparently forgot that I had it all in writing.

33. Betrayed and Hurt

I worked for this company for almost 2 years. I always arrived at my shift despite having the flu and puking (my line of work could care less how sick you are), always covered shifts if needed, etc. I was a great employee.

They knew I had bad anxiety attacks and one day, I woke up with horrific anxiety. I was too scared to drive because my panic attacks can leave me crippled and it's not safe (especially when I was supposed to pick up a client from the day program).

I called for over 2 hours until I finally got a hold of my manager. She was pissed and said I needed to bring in a doctor's note. She knew I didn't have health coverage and couldn't afford to be seen. I expressed this the next day and she said it was too bad and wrote me up.

I gave my 2 weeks along with that write-up.

36. A Career Shakeup

I was a maintenance supervisor at our company's biggest factory. It was supposed to be a rotational program but they had a great need in the maintenance department.

A corporate team contacted me and offered me a job that would move me to California and give me a pretty good raise.

The Plant Director (the top guy at the factory) pulled me into his office and convinced me that I should stay running my part of the maintenance department, that it would be better for my career in the long run. He convinced me and I stayed.

About two weeks later I let someone into the front office who said he was interviewing. I asked him what position and he told me: Maintenance Supervisor.

I was shocked.

I asked the plant director and he sheepishly told me that the maintenance manager wanted to replace me after the plant director convinced me to stay.

The reason he wanted to replace me is that he was a lazy prick and I did most of his job. You would think that would be a reason to keep me but he started getting offended when corporate/ lead techs would defer to me for decisions instead of him.

He moved me into a way shittier position then. I've pretty much never been madder in my life.

38. Black Hat

I worked for an SEO company that was decidedly black hat.

I found out that they were running a client's credit card twice a month without permission.

When I called them on it (I noticed because I was the account manager) I was told to be quiet because I was getting twice the commission.

I told them I felt very bad about this and wanted to speak to the boss after the Labor Day weekend.

Over that weekend, the boss/owner got into my email (apparently had a keystroke logging the program on machines), and found emails I'd send to a friend explaining how uncomfortable

I felt about it and that I'd probably resign. Sent them to the rest of the company (editing out the bit about why I was thinking of leaving) with "theblaggard uses company resource to denigrate the company" and fired me in the same company-wide email.

I was quite relieved about that last bit, honestly.

39. Don’t Be Oversmart

Currently a pharmacy technician, but I used to push carts, we had a slower day so one of the CSM called me in to distribute boxes of shopping bags to the registers. No problem, done this before, but we're supposed to do something different this time.

So she tells me to pull the loose bags out of the alcove under the register and stops. After waiting for a moment for her to continue her explanation I ask her what next.

She repeats herself and I tell her that I understood the first time, tell me what do you want me to do with the bags?

She gives me the dirtiest look and starts talking to me like I'm challenged, refusing to continue till I pull the bags out.

When I do, she says to put the box of bags in and put the loose bags beside them, very slowly, like I'm stupid.

I was so close to telling her that I'm perfectly capable of remembering a three-step process without her holding my fracking hand like a moron and that her time would be better spent with customers rather than babysitting me with a simple task.

40. No Introverts Allowed

I'm currently supervising anywhere from 7 to 22 guys at work (depending on the season). I don't get paid extra to do this, I just do it because it needed doing, and have been doing quite well at it for the past 14 months.

Recently we had quite a few supervisor positions open up. I put in and was interviewed for one of them.

My boss called me into his office and informed me that he and the warehouse director felt I was too introverted to be a supervisor.

He suggested I start working on coming out of my shell so that if another position opens up I can try again. I'll work on coming out of my shell alright; going to get a lot of practice interviewing for other jobs elsewhere.

41. The Man-Child

I was working at a restaurant. Sometimes, we were busy and would forget to clock in. The boss and shift manager could verify someone was there.

One day, I forgot to clock in for a couple of hours and when I told him about it at a meeting, he started cheering like he scored the game-winning shot.

We all knew he was stealing from the business to pay himself more and keep his new fat bitch wife happy.

I mean, to go and do that when your loyal employees are making $8 was disgusting.

He was a man-child with no clue as to what leadership was.

All I can say is, that all my jobs with unions have been great. If you're stupid enough to think a union wouldn't help you, you're just not smart. Put someone in charge of the cookie jar and they'll do whatever they can to keep as much of it and treat you like shit.

42. The Cranky Old Man

The owner guy was an old dude (like 70-something) and he felt it was appropriate to scream in people's faces when he thought something had gone wrong.

Also when you called his extension - you know, because his clients wanted to talk to him - every time he would pick up you could hear the barely concealed rage he had for the interruption.

You could actually hear how tightly he was gripping the phone handle, and through gritting teeth, he'd growl "Hello?"

I was in my early 20s at the time and struggling with anxiety. I was also their receptionist at first. I was on edge every day, and always crossed my fingers that I'd get his assistant when I called. It got better when I moved up and became a legal secretary, but not much.

He would throw tantrums that I hadn't been able to hear from the reception and stomp around.

I spoke to my office manager about it, who also happened to be his daughter.

She said, "Oh it's just the way he is".

43. Family Over Work

I got fired because I couldn't be back by a date my boss wanted me to be back by.

My dad was in the hospital due to his second heart attack. He had major neurological problems from his heart stopping and being in a coma.

I'm the next of kin or whatever and no one else to be in support of my dad's life. My boss knew this and fired me. I'm also only 22.

Thankfully though my dad has recovered and life is getting back to normal somewhat.

44. Not My Problem

A close relative of mine was on death's door and we knew she wouldn't make it through the next week.

I told the boss about this as soon as I was able to which ended up being about six days in advance. This guy held some weird grudge against me from early on that I've never been able to understand.

As soon as I told him about my situation, he said it'd be no problem and not to worry about anything.

Six days later, I told him about this and suddenly I had to schedule a replacement for my assigned shifts. I worked in a position that only one other person employed at the time could cover, and he was scheduled for other positions.

This left me with almost no time to find any kind of replacement for my shifts.

Instead of actually working this day, I used up enough favors, and debts, manipulated the schedule, and even got some sympathetic former coworkers to help, which I like to think would make Tyrion himself impressed.

Sure enough, on one of the rare occasions the owner showed up next, he promptly FIRED this guy. Wasn't just my situation, but a combination with his bullying new hires, lower quality standards than in the past, and inept social media shit-talking on public profiles got him super fired.

45. Fired For Being A Guy

My boss fired me so he could hire a female to be a deckhand on his charter boat.

She didn't like the job and quit a week later.

Because jobs were scarce and I was living in my car, I left town and drove 100 miles to another town to find work.

Later that year he ran into me and asked me where I had been and that he had looked for me to give me my job back. All in a manner that insinuated that I had inconvenienced him by not remaining available for him.
