People Share Moments They Got Backstabbed By Their Friend

Every person has their own comfort person or safe space to share every part of their lives. Once you consider yourself as that ‘someone’ whom they trust, you can either break it or keep it.

However, breaking someone’s trust also means that you are willing to be cut off, maybe forever. If you have experienced being one of those people who have been betrayed by someone, you are not alone.

These people from the Reddit Community shared their ‘betrayal’ moments. You might want to sit tight, extend your patience, and just enjoy reading them!

1. The Great Pretender

My friend pretended online that she was a guy I'd always liked in real life.

After a couple of nights of chatting, he asked me out, and I called her to tell her the amazing news... only to have her laugh and say it was her.

I was totally crushed.

2. Date Thief

When I was a senior, I had a crush on a girl named Ashley... Me and my three friends were hanging out (like we always do) on the weekend at a friend’s house.

We were lying there and asked one another who was taking/asking to prom. Chris was taking his girlfriend. Nel was taking some girl he was talking to.

And Nich said, "I'm not sure yet; I may not even go" (he had wrestling practice until an hour before). They asked me.

I said, "Guys, tomorrow is the day I grow the balls to ask Ashley on a date."

The next day, I walked up to Ashley and said, "Hey, I have a question! Are you going to prom with anyone?"

Her response was, "Yeah! I'm going with your friend, Nich. He asked me about 5 min ago."

Nich got her pregnant that night. He's paying child support.

Karma is a witch.

3. Danger Friend

When I was 14, my best friend convinced me to come to one of her friends’ houses, which was about an hour car drive away. Showed up, it was a bunch of 18+ guys drinking, smoking & whatnot.

Immediately told her I was uncomfortable & wanted to leave. Still, she promised we would only stay an hour and leave. In 45 minutes, she disappeared with one of the blokes while I was left, being the only female with 4 guys.

An hour went by & two of the guys started touching me up pretty forcefully & stuff. I ran out of there until I was a couple of streets away & called her in tears, telling her what happened.

She got super pissed. I interrupted her & hung up. I didn't answer any more phone calls, so I was left at midnight attempting to walk home from fudge knows where. This was 6 years ago, and she still doesn't understand why I refuse to hang out with her.

4. The Sabotage Guy

In my senior year in high school, a friend took a pic of me and another girl with whom I was working on an assignment in the hallway. He then proceeded to show it to my girlfriend of 3 years for the purpose of breaking us up.

It worked after he tried to hook up with her.

The only thing that made it worth it was him getting denied and losing me, his best friend since middle school.

My family even let him stay with us for the summer when he was having family troubles in his home.

5. Horrible Kid

When I was 10, my friend said it would be really cool if we put our Pokemon cards together because we would have a full set and extras. This girl walked all over me, and I said yes. We put the cards in deck boxes at her house and would play with them regularly.

A few months later, a family friend's son was seriously ill in the hospital, and nobody knew if he would live. One of the things he wanted to do while he was in hospital was complete his Pokemon collection.

I said that if he wrote down all the cards he needed, I would get my half of the set back and give him all the ones I had from his list, plus any extras he wanted.

It turns out that the only card I didn't have when he gave me this list was Raichu. But I could get him that one from the shop that sold them singly. So I did.

I went and bought him a Raichu, and then I took the list to my friend's house to get my cards and sort out what he needed from my collection.

When I got there and told her I needed my cards back, she just said I couldn't have them and closed the door in my face. A few days later, I found out that she sold them all at a school fair the day before I went to her house.

She got over £100 for all these cards, and not only did she not care that half of them were mine, but she also refused to give me any of the money because "there's no point in giving you the money if you just want to buy cards back for a kid who's gonna be dead soon anyway."

6. Total Jerk

This guy was my closest friend.

I lived with him after letting him co-rent a place my mother owned so he could pay lower rent and save up his spare cash.

About six months in, he kept vanishing at night, giving reasons like "I'm going out with work" and "I'm meeting the lads." It turns out he was porking my (now ex) girlfriend and didn't have the nuts to confront me about it and talk it through.

After months of angry messages, I cut my losses and decided to be the bigger man. By this time, I've found myself a new girl who is utterly amazing. My ex-friend is dating my ex-girlfriend (though they were "dating" before we broke up, I decided it's neither here nor there since they both seem happy).

So I put my best foot forward and, on a trip around Europe, send him a message telling him I'm happy to put things behind us.

When I get back, we'll sit down with a couple of the German beers I was bringing back and get back to being mates.

I get back home a couple of weeks later and am about to leave my house to go over and see him, and my current girlfriend shows up. She sits me down and explains that over the past couple of weeks, my "friend" has been sending her text messages begging her to sleep with him.

She showed me the messages, and I haven't spoken to the guy since. The urge was to "meet" him with a baseball bat, but that idea was quickly dismissed as lunacy.

Ah well, guess you don't know who your friends really are until they fudge your girlfriend and then attempt to pork the girlfriend you have after that one while still dating your previous girlfriend.

7. Taking Advantage

My best friend all through high school was a guy. I'm a girl. We went to the same college. Once there, things got kind of strained between us. He tried to be controlling but just got weird on me.

Anyway, one night, he invited me to a party. I went, and he kept trying to goad me into drinking.

Then, one of his new friends tried to get friendly with me. I turned him down.

We had a big falling out, and then he revealed in an attempt to hurt me. He only took me to that party with the intent of getting me too drunk to the point I couldn't say no to the motives of his friend.

8. Bandmate and a Scammer

A former Bandmate of mine planned a small tour on our way to play a show at South by Southwest. Arranged a rental van in NY to drive to TX. When we got there, the car rental agent said that he couldn't rent the van in his name and have me drive it(since he didn't have a license).

So, I agreed to put the deposit on my credit card so long as he paid the balance completely when we returned. He had already collected money from everyone who was going with us, so I figured it was a sure thing I would get paid back.

When we returned a week later, he told me, "Hey man, so I don't have all the money for the van cause I had to pay the venue to rent the space. I get paid next week, and I can get you the money then."

I had no other option at that point than to trust him. I had just started a new job, too, so I was flat broke, and he knew it. $2000 racked up on my crappy, low-limit, high-interest credit card for emergencies only.

The second I got on the bus, he said, "I think I'm just gonna walk to the train."

I knew I was never getting paid back. The next week, I found out he had been playing shows with a completely new set of band members, playing the music we all wrote together.

The dude was a douche. I'm glad I got out of that jerk’s business.

9. Insane Friend

I had just escaped my abusive husband with my kids. My best friend at the time said I could stay with her. Her husband was military, so he'd be deploying soon, and she didn't want to be alone. Worked out great for a month.

Then, an acquaintance of mine came over and met my friend, and we all hung out one night. Just talking and laughing. Long story short, my friend's husband leaves for training, and she tries getting with the acquaintance and is shot down.

She blamed me.

She had it in her head that I had sabotaged her chances. Wtf? How exactly does she handle this made-up betrayal? She steals money from me, hacks into my email account, and starts emailing business contacts and clients with awful lies, steals from my kids, and kicks me out of my ass as I was looking for a place to go.

I got away from her and finally started a new life. Her final act of betrayal - running to my abusive ex and telling him that we were with her the whole time and where he could find the kids and me. Her mother was bat-crap insane, and the Apple did not fall far from the tree.

10. The Vengeance

A girl asked if she could sleep in my apartment because she was having some problems with her father and needed some time to think, so I said sure, why not?

A few days after she was sleeping there, my company mobile phone went missing, I told my boss, and he was pissed off with me. When I got home, I asked if she had seen it and explained that it was really important and that I could get fired if I didn't find it. We searched the entire apartment, every single corner. It took us some 2 hours, but it wasn't anywhere.

The next day, I was desperate, and my boss threatened to fire me if I didn't find it. I called the operator and asked if they could use triangulation to find the position on a map, but they informed me that this service is only available with a court order.

Fudge! I'm gonna get fired... I finally checked the operator's website, and someone had used it to make a call after I lost it. I googled the destination phone number, and it was the girl's father.

I sent her a message saying I wanted her out of my house and my phone back. When I got home, she returned the phone and explained that she stole it because I said something she didn't like and it was an act of vengeance.

A few months later, I was trying to find a book, but it wasn't anywhere, then I found out that she had also stolen it and borrowed it from someone else. When I asked why she did it, she said that she stole it because I kicked her out of my apartment.

11. No Permission

Scumbag "friends" took my car out after I had gone to bed, crashed it doing 80 in my neighborhood, came back to tell me, and had to walk a mile there, only to find out my car was already engulfed in 6-foot flames.

Had to call the FD; they will be paying out of their pocket for it, and after all this, I didn't even get an apology.

12. Come, Darling

My supposed best friend went to Vegas with my ex-husband weeks after the divorce was final. Probably wouldn't have been a fraction as pissed if either of them had the balls to tell me.

But instead, I figured it out when they were both posting Facebook updates from Vegas (but never mentioning the other person, as if I'm a complete freaking idiot).

It's cool, and she found out later on why he was my ex-husband. I know this because she tried to come crying to me when he was manipulative and just awful to her. My reaction was, "You're joking, right?"

No, we are not still friends.

13. The Ungrateful One

This one friend of mine was practically raised by my mother since we met back in 1997, and we became best friends. We sheltered him a few times when his abusive, alcoholic father went on trying to beat the heck out of him for no reason at all.

Earlier in 2012, my mom underwent surgery and needed blood donors. He was a match, so he could give blood to her.

I called him to ask if he could give blood to my mom.

He agreed to it and said he would go the next morning. He never showed up, followed by not replying to my texts, answering my calls, and avoiding me altogether, and I never saw him again.

Later that year, I heard from some mutual friends that he moved to another city to go to college. We still haven't talked since that incident, and I have no idea how I will react if I ever see him again.

Fudge that guy.

14. Sudden Confession

My friend told a potential employer I'd stolen money before, so I couldn't get the job.

It was at Starbucks, and she had some crazy freaking vendetta against them and didn't approve of me wanting to work there.

She ended up confessing a few weeks later when she was completely wasted.

15. The Snake

When I was 14, I had a crush on my best friend, Liam. I (quite foolishly, in hindsight) told my new friend Gemma about it. She started freaking out about how adorable we'd be together, 'You're best friends, you're both short, and you both wear glasses!" She also said I should tell him. I initially said no because I was sure he didn't like me back, but she egged me on for weeks.

However, during this time, she started behaving quite weirdly around him, e.g., flirting with him in front of me, constantly trying to one-up me when the three of us were having a conversation, going for trips to the mall together, etc.

Needless to say, I was rather confused and upset.

I finally couldn't take it anymore, so for some reason, my best solution was to tell Liam that I liked him. He was very nice about it, but as I had suspected, he didn't like me back, and even if he did, he said he didn't really want a girlfriend. And I was okay with that. (Well, as okay as I could have been.)

Three days later, Liam had a girlfriend. Guess who set that up? (Hint: it was that freaking piece of cow crap, Gemma)

16. Big Liar

When I was a teenager, my friend stole my car, wrecked it, and drove it back. He never admitted it, even though I knew it was him. Fast forward to our mid-twenties, and he had just gotten out of rehab for heroin.

I saw him at a New Year's party and drunkenly called him out. He finally admitted to stealing my car, and we patched things up.

A month later, he relapsed and died. RIP, you jerk.

17. Work Thief

Plagiarism. This happened when I was in grade 12, trying really hard to get good marks for university acceptances. I finished a chem lab report that I had been working on for a while. I made all my diagrams and charts and even got a review from my teacher beforehand.

The day before it was due, my friend asked if he could see it to see if we got similar results. In my mind, I thought, yeah, sure, why not? I've done this a hundred times( both comparing and letting friends compare).

Then fast forward 1 month when we get our lab reports back, and behold, zero for both of us. This lab report and 1 other test were going on our midterm mark the universities were going to look at.

And now, under chemistry on my midterm, I had a zero.

When my teacher called us to talk to us individually, I saw how much he had copied. He copied all the diagrams and the text. He didn't even bother changing the font.

Afterward, I sent my teacher and principal a letter saying I was sorry. I had no idea he would blatantly copy like that, and instead of a zero for the course, I got a zero only for the lab.

Which gave me a mark that was enough to get into my preferred program. My "Friend," on the other hand, is repeating high school as he couldn't get into his programs with a zero in chem.

(This was in the second semester, so the midterm marks for the second semester were the last marks to be sent to universities for consideration)

18. Petty Fight

This is (thankfully) a petty primary school story, but it still blows my mind at the scumbaggery involved. My best friend and I got into some ridiculous fight on MSN Messenger. I'm talking the whole shebang- paragraphs written in capitals, passive-aggressive screen name changes, the lot.

Typical girl drama, who was more popular, had the better boyfriend, and all that jazz (so much cringe).

So, the next day, I didn't go to school for unrelated reasons. I found out later that afternoon that she printed off the 15-page conversation and showed everybody in our year, with the awful things she said conveniently missing.

Later that year, she got my "boyfriend" to break up with me while on a group call with the popular crowd. Some mean girls-esque crap going on there. But whatever, she grew up and got a dumb tattoo and spells her name Kaytiii (Katie), so there's that small victory.

19. The Affair

My "Best friend" of 18 years had a two-year affair with my fiancee/husband. She let me marry him even though she had, you know, two years to come clean.

She could have stopped me from making the worst mistake of my life.

And until this day, it’s baffling that she still doesn't understand why we can't be friends anymore.

FickDu

20. Game Scam

I played Monopoly when I was 8, and I traded Mayfair to my friend who already had Park Lane on the condition that if I ever landed on it, I wouldn't have to pay rent.

Well, guess what? When I landed it 2 hours and 1 hotel later, he swore he never agreed to that and that I owed him nearly 2 grand.

Liam, if you're reading this, you're a jerk, and I'm not even sorry that I said you have a crappy face.

IBeJizzin

21. Evil Sister

It was actually my sister who was the backstabber. When we were young, she was the skinny, popular one; I was the chubby, nerdy one. Every single boy I ever had a crush on, she would go out and screw.

Even when I was in 6th grade, she was in 7th. I had a crush on a boy at my school who was a fifth grader. She came to my school, introduced herself, and started going out with him.

A few years later, I met a boy named Billy. I was head over heels for him. We went out a few times, and then he met her. The next thing I know, they are dating. She always brings him over; I have to see them together every day. I was just heartbroken.

Of course, they only lasted a few months because she treated him like dirt since she was not interested in him in the first place. She was just using him to hurt me and for his money.

22. Kid of Trickery

My mom had a friend, and she had a son about my age. So whenever my mom's friend would come over, her son would come over too because my mother wanted us to play together. This kid was the douchiest motherfudger at the time. We were both really into Pokemon. I had Silver, and he had Gold.

He was really crappy at the game, his Pokemon were under-leveled, he couldn't beat the first gym, crap like that. Well, the Pokemon master that I was, I decided to help him out. I showed him which Pokemon are good, and how to tell which moves to use, etcetera.

So, one day, he asks if he can bring my Gameboy back to his house to look at my Pokemon and then bring it back the next day. Of course, my naive self accepted the offer. I expected him to look through my Pokemon and think, "Wow, sourlemon13 is the coolest!" Nope.

Motherfudger transferred ALL of my Pokemon, including my level 100 Typhlosion. He replaced them with Pidgeys and Caterpies.

Fudge him.

23. Just To Be Cool

My "best" friend begged me to join a club at school. I went just to hang out with her. They had a big conference every year; I went as a helper because I had no interest in doing a crappy project just to go.

As soon as we got on the bus, she pretended she didn't know who I was and then made fun of me with her other friends. I was in the same hotel room as them.

I made it home in one piece. I broke down when my mom asked if I had fun. My mother called her a witch and gave me a hug.

The next Monday at school, she returned to pretending we were best buddies. I decided I was better off without her.

Immakai

24. Pathological Liar

I rejected her drunk ass, and then she went and told everybody I took advantage of her.

Police were involved. Lots of drama. Things turned on her when she started threatening prosecution with DNA evidence she didn't have and when her story kept changing.

The police were obviously pissed that they were involved in someone's made-up crap. Bought them a beer when she finally caved in and admitted the truth.

25. Major Downfall

I was living in Florida and dating this girl when I was told I was being forced to love a different part of my family.

Caring about the girl, I maintained a long-distance relationship with her for 2 years, working frequently and visiting when possible.

When we broke up, my friend sent me a USB of a bunch of files of him and my girlfriend making out and hundreds and hundreds of videos, pictures, and text conversations.

What_Is_Outside

26. Left Out In Danger

My friend had gotten two tickets for a festival. I wasn't her first choice to ask, but when her other friend couldn't go, she asked me at the last minute. We were 16 at the time.

I didn't really like a whole lot of the bands performing (bring me the Horizon etc) or the crowds that the crappy bands brought with them. The venue was in the middle of nowhere, and we were dropped off by a friend of a friend.

We enjoyed ourselves for a while until my friend (let's call her Amber) got slightly pushed into the pit. Now, Amber has a tendency to be completely overdramatic. It was no more than a shove.

Without telling me, she suddenly vanished. I scouted the whole place for her. I had no phone credit to call or message her and no money. She knew that. I asked a random for their phone, but there was no reception because we were out in the middle of nowhere.

I still scoured the place and all the medical tents for her and finally gave up and saw the last band finish up at about 12:30am. I stood out in front of the venue, hoping to see Amber come out. She didn't.

After waiting for an hour in denial, I admitted to myself she ditched me. The friend of Amber never turned up to pick us up because Amber probably had told them she was gone. So there I was, waiting at 1am, with no money, no way of contacting anyone, and out in the middle of nowhere.

I decided to start walking until I got to a phone or until I had reception on mine. I walked for about an hour down a highway, getting yelled at by all these douches coming from the concert or just random jerks.

I tried reverse-charging a call to my mum, but she didn't answer. I finally reached a petrol station and reverse-called my boyfriend to tell him where I was. He had no car, so he couldn't pick me up, but he got a hold of my mum for me and told her where I was.

While waiting around to be picked up, the most cliche creepy guy in a van pulled into the petrol station and asked me if I wanted a ride. I just said "nup" and ran straight into the shop and told the clerk about the creepy guy outside so he'd let me wait around in there instead.

Anywaaay, I found out Amber was taken away in an ambulance. Being the over-dramatic attention seeker Amber was, she told the paramedics her ribs were broken. There was absolutely nothing wrong with her. I later found out she wasn't having fun and wanted to ditch me and the festival in the quickest way possible.

Lied about having broken ribs, called off the ride home, and left me in the middle of nowhere without a word of where she had gone and with no phone or money.

27. Disgusting Pattern

My friend kept insisting I meet her boyfriend's roommate. I had recently broken up with my boyfriend and wasn't interested in meeting him. She kept telling me how he was such a catch; he was a marine, built his house, has a truck and snowmobiles, is a good father, is a volunteer fireman, etc.

I gave in after a couple weeks of her bothering me about him. We went on a few dates, and I really liked him.

I was out to dinner with another friend and her boyfriend, telling her how much I liked this guy.

All of a sudden, she told me my friend who introduced me to him was sleeping with him the whole time. She met her boyfriend online and made out with him and the guy I was dating the first night they met.

We had been going on dates for a couple months by then.

28. Business Plan Thief

I told my best friend about a business idea and how much I had been struggling with setting it up because I lacked the money and time to do it. Two weeks later, I found out she stole my idea.

She didn't have the problems I had since she didn't work, and her daddy still pays her bills (even though she is 25 years old).

"Her" business failed miserably. So she lost her daddy's money and her friend.

Witch.

29. Bad Joke

He deleted my Maths Coursework for a "joke" from my computer at school about 2 days before the hand-in date. We had worked on this over the course of about 6 months.

Thankfully, I had an awesome teacher who could help me out.

I knew it was him because we shared a login. He made a joke about it before I found out, hinting that it was him, but as soon as he realized how serious it was, he crap himself and denied it like mad.

Prick.

30. Worst People

When I was 14, my 13-year-old cousin (who was basically my brother) was hit and killed by a car. A girl I knew at school decided to use this tragedy to get out of class all week, claiming "she was so devastated by the loss."

Some of my actual friends found out and told me what was happening. I was pissed because this girl had met my cousin once for 15 minutes.

Later on in college, I was with two friends, and my best friend got arrested (Tl; Dr weed was involved, yes you shouldn't take the fall for anyone, I got it already), and I took the fall for a friend.

We ended up being roommates the next year, and I had to move out after 4 months because she was constantly picking on me and being mean to me.

Karma, my dear Reddit. Karma is real and will get those bad people :)

31. The Helping Hand

My best friend at the time called me up sobbing because his rent was due, he was broke, and he was going to be evicted. He needed $1000. I sent it to him. Yadda yadda yadda, he isn't my best friend or any friend anymore.

Another friend borrowed $300 and eventually paid back $100 of it. Years have now gone by, and another friend is down.

A third friend, a former girlfriend, was moving across the US to a Canadian city for a new job and needed someone to go with her as she felt insecure alone. I was recently married to a VERY understanding wife and agreed to help after she assured me that everything was in order.

At the time, I was going through some very uncomfortable health issues, but hey, a friend in need and all. I am a very experienced road tripper, having been all over the US and Canada by car.

It turns out that "everything in order" meant she had printed out Yahoo driving directions. We got to the US/Canada border and were in line at the checkpoint when it became apparent that she had no paperwork for working abroad, no paperwork for her dog who was with us, a can of mace in the car, and had never seen the house where we were to stay. When I expressed my concern about this, she screamed me out and said, "We'll just lie."

Well, we made it through customs somehow, and shortly thereafter, the driving directions went wrong, and we were adrift in this city I had only been to once, no maps, nothing. I "used the force" and got us to the house.

It was a shambles, torn to bits in the very early stages of a remodel. Finally, I lost my shit and ditched her, her dog, and her stuff at the place and took a cab to a hotel. By this point, my health issue was very bad. I rallied, bought an expensive one-way flight home, and lost another friend.

32. Trust No One

Tried to end my marriage.

This was worse than an individual betrayal. No, this was a concerted effort by a group of people to break me and my wife up during what was already a rough time after I lost my first job. It was a concerted effort by a coalition of people who either wanted my wife, wanted me, or were just the kind of people who already ruined their own relationships and needed to fudge up someone else's.

In most cases, it wasn't even sexual.

It was just, "I wish this person had more free time to hang out with me. I know I'll destroy their family so they have fewer obligations!" These people came together like some kind of supervillain team-up to make a coordinated assault on my marriage.

We got through it, but it was a rough freaking year, and it really sucked because my wife and I had to figure out which of our Spouse's friends we could trust and which were selfishly trying to steal them. Most of those in the latter category are gone from our life now.

33. Better Luck Next Time

I was talking to a girl, trying to get together with her. My mate asked for her number to build me up to her, 'wingman' me, if you will.

Turns out he'd been asking her out and being super inappropriate to her. She told me about this as soon as it happened. She told him to stop, but it still happens occasionally.

34. Ain’t Playing

This is a scumbag thing.

My school was pretty small. So everyone knew everything about everyone. I have a cousin "Jane," and we spend a lot of time together. We'd meet up after school. Go to events together. Everyone knew how close we were.

In my freshman year, a girl had died in a horrible car accident. Not knowing this yet, I went to class per usual, getting some homework done before the teacher started. A girl I was friends with, "Ashley," came busting into class gossiping about something happening.

I wasn't really listening until she came over and said, "OMG! I can't believe it. Jane! Poor Jane. I'm sorry." I asked her what she was talking about, and she told me that Jane died in a car accident this morning. I was stunned. I felt the color draining from my face, and I started tearing up.

Before I could even react or say anything, one of my best friends ran over and got in her face.

Saying how Jane, who died, was not my cousin and that Ashley knew this. She just wanted a reaction out of me.

I was confused at this point. Basically, imagine you had a brother named Chris. When someone comes up to you and says something about a Chris, you're going to assume it's your brother. Well, that's what I did.

After this went down, a group of people got in her face, saying they knew she did that for a reaction because she was clearly told what Jane was in the hallway before she came into class. The girl who even told her the story (including whose Jane had passed away). Approached me, verifying that Ashley absolutely knew who it was.

Long story short, I ended up punching her after school when she got into my face lying about it, and we stopped being friends.

35. Trusted The Wrong Person

I lent my friend my TV last month so that he could play GTA V in HD.

He sets it up precariously, so I say, 'You broke it, you buy it.'He breaks it and sends it in to have it fixed several days later for $120.

A week or two later, he mentioned that it cost $220 to fix while I was giving him a ride home from his new job selling phones at Sprint. He makes "$4,000" every two weeks, supposedly.

It's now a month later, and I have bills -- I need the money, so I put my foot down.

"Maybe you should get a job instead of expecting everything to be handed to you."

Told him to back off. Turns out he broke it and pawned the pieces for $90.

Actually, he sold it the day after receiving it for $90 at the pawn shop because he is a serious addict for K2 Spice. (He spends thousands per month on it.)

I just talked to his grandma. Apparently, he's been up in his room playing on my TV with my Xbox controller and just can't rationalize spending money on something that isn't drugs.

I have never wanted to stomp on somebody’s head as badly as I do right now.

LookAround

36. The Main Character

When I was 15, my best friend dated my friend for about two weeks, but they had no connection and broke up, no big deal. Well, I started to see him, and my best friend did not mind at all, but for some reason, our other friend decided for herself that it was wrong of me.

So, when I got a sore throat, she told everyone I had herpes of the mouth.

I ended up smacking the crap out of her and never spoke to her again.

It is now 16 years later, and I'm married to him, and my best friend, whom he dated for two weeks, is babysitting our 3-month-old son right now.

37. The Brainwasher

My sister, throughout my life, would lie to my now-deceased father to turn him against me and my husband.

For some reason, it worked.

The thing is, after my father died, all she received was a shoebox of invoices from my stepmother. 20 years of trying to make herself look like an angel and all it got her was a shoe box and a sister (me) that would not have anything to do with her.

38. Cleaning Other’s Mess

My best friend/roommate bailed on a $1200 electric bill.

The bill was in my name. I was hospitalized last December, and after I was released, I had to attend a daily outpatient program. Because of a past history with the electric company, she couldn't open an account in her name. As a favor, I kept it in my name, with the understanding that she would open the bills and pay them.

NOPE.

So, I took the account out of my name.

She called me crying that she won't be able to have electricity now. I reluctantly keep it in my name.

I started getting calls from debt collectors. I asked if she would be willing to send me something, even $10 a week, just so I knew she was making an effort. She said she couldn't afford that (even though it's just two less drinks at the bar a week).

So I got freaked into paying a $1200 electric bill because she didn't give them a dime and let the late fees add up.

39. Best Man

This was when we were both adults...we were each other's best men at our respective weddings (just to show how close we were). I moved into a house with a steep gravel driveway that was all kinds of messed up.

He was trying to start his own grading and paving business (he had worked for years for his dad). I told him that I wanted to hire him to grade and pave my driveway, that I didn't want a discount, that I had to hire somebody to do it anyway, and that I wanted to give him the business.

He quoted me a price, I wrote him a check, and he never did the work. A couple of months go by, and I ask him when he's going to do it. He tells me, "When I get time". I explained to him that I wasn't asking for a hook-up and that I hired him to do a job just like anyone else.

He got pissed that I was "treating him like an employee" and hasn't spoken to me since. He's told other people that I was the one in the wrong because I let "a few hundred bucks get in the way of our friendship." I've tried many times to make contact with him, but he never returns my calls.

40. Messed Up Kid

This happened in the 6th grade. I had a friend (Matthew; real name) who I talked to on a regular basis and was into a lot of computer games similar to me. Everyone in my class was getting MSN, and having just gotten mine, another friend came over (we will call him Sam).

He gave me the account name for everybody in class, including Matthew. While I was playing Gamecube with Sam. My mom called me up and told me she had something important to tell me. She took me to my computer and showed me this conversation.

Matthew: What the fudge? How did you get my MSN, you crap.

My mother (Using my account): Matthew, you shouldn't use such language

Matthew: Yeah, well, mind your own freaking business.

My mom then proceeded to call his mother. He was bawling on the phone, crying, saying he was sorry blah blah blah.

The next day he comes up to me and says, "Your mom's a freaking craphole. I hope she dies." He was grounded from the computer for three weeks and told my mother, who had cancer at the time, to die.

BONUS STORY:

The next month, we had police come to our school and took two students from our Grade Six class. Apparently, three of the girls in our class received death threats from someone, and they suspected it was two kids in our class because of their bad reputation with those particular girls.

Turns out it was Matthew, and confessed to being the one who sent them because those girls were the only friends he had. Being a jerk to everyone in the class, they had enough of his crap. In revenge or anger, he sent the girls death threats. He was expelled in the 6th grade.

Matthew, if you’re reading this, you’re a sick freaking psycho.

41. Wrong Circle

We shared a group of friends. He was dating my best friend. I was dating his sister. I caught him cheating on my friend, so I told him to fix it before it blew up on his face. Instead of fixing it, the next week, he brought his ho to my house party just to mess with me.

That night, my friend called me, suspecting the guy was up to something, and she could notice my tone. She asked for the truth so I told her. He flipped. And he is a convincing liar.

He somehow turned it around on me and said I made it up.

And made his sister break it off with me. Nobody in the group defended me. My friend appreciated it and believed me. She forgave him and took him back not even a month later. Then, ditched me because I couldn't get along with him.

That was the last time I had friends. That was 6 years ago.

42. Got Baited

First year of uni. I had just got my student loan, and Oasis was playing - at the time, my absolute musical hero. Me, my friend and respective girlfriends went to get some tickets from the touts.

I paid 220 quid for two tickets for me and my girlfriend. Within 5 minutes of purchasing said tickets, a random guy somehow connected with the support band gave me two free tickets.

Proper bonus :) My friend said he'd split the money I paid and get me a T-shirt, I thought; sounds good. He never paid me. And the worst bit was that he wouldn't get me a T-shirt from the official stall.

I had to get a cheap knockoff from outside the venue.

43. Thrown Away

I was applying for an internship. My closest friend was, at the time, part of the committee charged with accepting applicants and the main person in charge of approving applications. An acquaintance of mine who was also on the committee told me that my friend threw away my application before it was even reviewed.

Those were grounds for referring her to our uni's judicial review committee, and my acquaintance was willing to go forward with it.

I decided to no follow through, though, since it would have ended up with a permanent mark on my friend's record. Obviously, we don't talk anymore.

44. Party Breaker

My best friend was turning 13. His family planned a huge party, paid for a band, and rented the local fire station to use as a stage for the band.

Some prick named James went around the whole school telling everyone that my best friend constantly threw fake parties and it wasn't real.

No one showed up :( Still, see the tears in his eyes to this day. Fudge off, James. Everyone always hated you anyway.

45. No One’s Real

My best friend, whom I'd known since first grade, slept with my mom in high school. Everyone in my life knew about it for three years before I found out because, apparently, he was very proud of himself and bragged about it.

I have since forgiven everyone, and it should be noted that my mother is crazy. Seriously, she has issues... the worst part is that it was such news to me it literally seemed like somebody had just made it up, but it inevitably had to become my new life, as silly as it is.

Obviously, many of my friendships are not the same. I'm now awkward and think everyone is lying to me. My old best friend simply ignores that I exist. My crazy mother is a wall, and my father is a constant deer in the headlights.

No matter how much I try to make it a point to everyone that I have left what happened behind, the only thing that needs to happen is my acceptance of my new reality.
