Since they moment she was elected to the House of Representatives in 2018, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has been a much talked about figure. Very popular within the Democratic party, the New York congresswoman has also been the target of plenty of GOP scorn.
The telegenic lawmaker is extensively talked about on the Fox News network, possibly more than any Democratic Rep. outside of Nancy Pelosi. With so much focus on Ocasio-Cortez, it is no surprise that there is already a buzz about her being a future Presidential candidate.
Ocasio-Cortez has already hit the campaign trail in support of Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders. The duo has frequently drawn massive and impressive crowds.
The lawmaker recently said at a Sanders’ rally, “I know, and we all know, that this isn’t just about Bernie Sanders. This is about a movement that has been decades in the making.”
Ocasio-Cortez is especially popular with younger voters like Will Rodriguez-Kennedy, the president of the California Young Democrats. He said of the congresswoman, “The future of the Democratic Party is not Pete Buttigieg. It’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. She has gripped the attention of fellow millennials across the country. The Green New Deal has changed the conversation on environmental action in the Democratic Party.”
And Sanders himself knows that Ocasio-Cortez has a bright future within the party. While the congresswoman says she is too young to serve as a potential running mate, that doesn’t mean the pair doesn’t have a future together. When asked if AOC would serve in his cabinet, Sanders forcefully answered, “Yes!”
