The President’s Son in Law, Jared Kusher, has been busy in the Middle East, attempting to create a peace plan. With Donald Trump attacking the city of Baltimore, though, Kushner has been in the papers at home as well.
Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi referred to the adviser to the President when she was asked a question about Trump’s Elijah Cummings comments. According to Pelosi, Kushner would know a lot about Baltimore as he is a slumlord there.
The Speaker told reporters, “The president — this comes as no surprise — really doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Maybe you could ask his son-in-law, who’s a slumlord there, if he wants to talk about rodent infestations.
Pelosi is alluding to a report published by Pro Publica and The New York Times about Kushner’s 20,000 Baltimore apartments. The buildings have been subject to a number of health code violations. Ironically, many of the building’s complaints concern rat and rodent infestations.
At the time of the violations Baltimore County said, “We expect all landlords to comply with the code requirements that protect the health and safety of their tenants — even if the landlord’s father-in-law is President of the United States.”
The Kushner corporation was quick to deny the claims and painted their buildings as high end. The company released a statement claiming they are “proud to own thousands of apartments in the Baltimore area. [They are a] high quality residential experience.”
Neither Jared Kushner or Donald Trump have responded to the comments from Pelosi.
