William Barr has been a different kind of Attorney General since assuming office in February of 2019. He initially became a candidate for the job by penning a pro-Trump op-ed. The New York Bar Association has also asked the House to investigate Barr for bias.
In addition to plenty of talk about Donald Trump and Rudy Giuliani, Ukrainian informant Lev Parnas has also started to discuss Barr. The former Giuliani associate recently said that the Attorney General was aware of his actions and needs to recuse himself from an SDNY investigation into Parnas.
In an interview with Rachel Maddow conducted last week, Parnas said of the President, “He was aware of all my movements. I wouldn’t do anything without the consent of Rudy Giuliani, or the president. I have no intent, I have no reason to speak to any of these officials.”
The Ukrainian continued, “Attorney General Barr was basically on the team.” Parnas said Barr regularly talked with Giuliani and, “had to have known everything.”
Now Parnas had formerly asked for Barr to be removed from his case. According to The Wall Street Journal’s Rebecca Ballhous, “Lev Parnas has filed a letter in court—and sent a copy to the DOJ—requesting for Barr to recuse himself from the SDNY investigation into Parnas’s campaign donations and business dealings.”

The White House and Barr have yet to comment on the request.
