Former Ohio Rep. Explains Why Kamala Harris Would 'Smoke' Trump

According to former United States Congressman Tim Ryan, Kamala Harris would 'smoke' Donald Trump if she were to become the Democratic nominee for President.

Over the last handful of days, it became increasingly more likely that Joe Biden would drop out of the Presidential race. If that were to happen, the most likely person to take his place would be Vice President Kamala Harris.

Ryan appeared on CNN Friday morning to discuss Donald Trump's largely panned speech at the RNC yesterday. Host Kasie Hunt asked if he thought a ticket with Harris at the top would be enough to win the November election.

"I think she would smoke him, honestly," Ryan responded. "And I've been saying this for three weeks now: She is the candidate in my mind. She will absolutely smoke him. She'll rally our base. She'll pull in young people, she will energize Democrats. She will prosecute the case, not just against Trump because I don't think we want to talk about him too much, but you've got to be able to call out his lies, and who better to do that but a prosecutor."

Ryan then explained why he thought the Vice President would appeal to a large swath of voters, including Independents and Never Trump Republicans, saying, "Kamala Harris will elevate the American conversation, people will be drawn to that, independent voters will be drawn to that, the Never Trumpers in the Republican Party will be drawn to that. You can run on choice, you can run on reindustrialization."
