NY FBI Office Being Sued For Leaking Sensitive Info to Giuliani

A government watchdog is reportedly suing the NY FBI Office over leaking sensitive information to President Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Guiliani.

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), the group putting forth the lawsuit,  said sensitive information was leaked to Giuliani in the final weeks of the 2016 presidential campaign, thus tipping off the former New York mayor that then-FBI Director James Comes was preparing to re-open the FBI’s investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server during her time as Secretary of State.

Guiliani actually admitted to getting a leak, telling Fox News, “Did I hear about it? You’re darn right I heard about it. And I can’t even repeat the language that I heard.”

This all comes after Former FBI Director James Comey himself told House investigators that he was very “concerned” about FBI officials in the bureau’s New York field office leaking information about the Hillary Clinton email probe to Rudy Giuliani.

“I was concerned that there appeared to be in the media a number of stories that might have been based on communications reporters or non-reporters like Rudy Giuliani were having with people in the New York field office,” Comey said, according to a transcript released Saturday. “Mr. Giuliani was making statements that appeared to be based on his knowledge of workings inside the FBI New York.”

This prompted CREW to request records pertaining to the FBI’s investigation into how Giuliani got advanced notice of Comey’s investigations.

However, the FBI has yet to fulfill CREW’s request.

“The FBI legally has to give us these records or explain why they cannot,” CREW executive director Noah Bookbinder said in a statement announcing the lawsuit. “It is important for the public to have all of the information that the law requires be made available.”

Hillary Clinton has blamed the leak as being one of the major reasons as to why she lost to Trump.
