Nuestro PAC Launches Campaign in California

The PAC is committed to turning out Latinos statewide to protect and grow Democrats’ majority in the U.S. Congress

WASHINGTON — Nuestro PAC today announced the launch of a statewide campaign in California targeting Latino voters to reelect first-term U.S. Senator Alex Padilla and to flip five congressional districts from Red to Blue, including CA-21, CA-25, CA-39, CA-48, and CA-50. The program will include direct mail, television, and digital media programming in English and Spanish.

“We are not taking any chances with the first Latino U.S. Senator for the state of California or these congressional districts we lost to Republicans last cycle,” said Chuck Rocha, Founder of Nuestro PAC. “I created Nuestro PAC to support Latino candidates and voters. Senator Alex Padilla is a true reflection of all of our community and we want to make sure he serves in the Senate for the long haul. His popularity in the state will also help us turn out Latinos in support of Democrats in these critical districts.”

Nuestro PAC is joining forces with Christopher Guerrero, Vice President of California-based J&Z Strategies, a national Democratic media firm. Guerrero served on Padilla’s transition team for the U.S. Senate as well as Executive Director for the Democratic Association of Secretaries of State (DASS), an organization Padilla chaired while he served as California’s Secretary of State.

From 2010 to 2020, Latinos in California grew their population by approximately 1.6 million. This means their share of the state’s population grew by 11%, compared to the statewide average growth rate of 6%. Critically, Latinos in the state voted against the recall of Governor Gavin Newsom by overwhelming margins in the state’s heavily-Latino counties like Merced, Los Angeles and San Francisco. This demonstrates how essential earning the Latino vote will be for Sen. Padilla to remain in office in 2022 and to flip these congressional seats from Red to Blue.

Nuestro PAC spent over $6 million in 2020 to turn out Latinos for Democrats across the country, helping secure victories in Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania. Earlier this month, the PAC announced “Nuestro Texas,” its state PAC dedicated to turning out Latino voters in the Rio Grande Valley to defeat Governor Greg Abbott and his Republican legislature in 2022.
