“Not Everyone From Kentucky is an Insensitive A**hole” Rep. John Yarmouth Rips Thomas Massie’s Assault Weapon X-Mas Card

On November 30th, a student at Michigan’s Oxford High School brought a gun into the building. He used the gun, purchased for him by his father, to kill four of his classmates and shoot 7 others.

Just a few days later, Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie posted a picture of him and his family holding assault weapons. Besides the fact the guns have absolutely nothing to do with the holiday season, the timing of the decision was just awful.

The Kentucky Republican posted his photo, “Merry Christmas! ps. Santa, please bring ammo.” The message drew a response from John Yarmouth, who also serves Kentucky in the House of Representatives.

“I promise not everyone in Kentucky is an insensitive a**hole,” Yarmouth wrote. “I’m old enough to remember Republicans screaming that it was insensitive to try to protect people from gun violence after a tragedy. Now they openly rub the murder of children in our faces like they scored a touchdown. Disgraceful.”

Massie’s tweet also drew a response from Fred Guttenberg, whose daughter was killed in the Parkland Massacre. The activist wrote, “One is the last photo that I ever took of Jaime, the other is where she is buried because of the Parkland school shooting. The Michigan school shooter and his family used to take photos like yours as well.”
