New Poll Shows Trump’s Recent Approval Rating Bump is Already Eroding
Many Democratic voters have been wildly unhappy with Donald Trump’s performance during the COVID-19 epidemic. And these people were especially dismayed when they saw that the President’s approval rating was somehow rising.
There are a number of factors that contributed to the better numbers. Many pundits referred to it as a “rally around the flag effect.” That faith in the President, however, seems to be eroding in a new poll conducted by Politico and The Morning Consult.
The survey found that 47% of voters felt that the Trump administration is doing enough to combat coronavirus spread. The number is up from the 43% that answered in this way 2 weeks ago. Only 40% of those polled felt that the White House was doing enough.
Trump remained underwater on his general approval rating as well. The poll showed 45% of voters approving of the President with 52% disapproving.
These numbers for Trump are dismal when compared to other leaders during this crisis. New York Mayor Andrew Cuomo, who is at the center of the storm, saw his approval rise to 87% among New Yorkers.
And other polls show that the President still faces problems in his reelection bid. A recent poll, conducted by Fox News, showed Joe Biden leading Trump by a margin of 49-40.
