New Lincoln Project Ad Uses Donald Trump’s COVID-19 Diagnosis Against Him
The Lincoln Project, a never-Trump organization made up mostly of conservatives and whose sole mission is to defeat President Donald Trump on November 3, launched a new ad over the weekend that turns Trump’s COVID-19 diagnosis into political ammunition.
Trump confirmed last Friday that he and First Lady Melania had received positive coronavirus test results. The president was hospitalized at Walter Reed Military Medical Center for treatment later that evening.
The 24-second spot was simple: a quote from Trump and a few devastating facts about the coronavirus pandemic.
“It’s been a very interesting journey, I learned a lot about COVID, I learned it by really going to school,” Trump is shown saying in a snippet from a video update he posted from Walter Reed. “The this is the real school, this isn’t the let’s read the book school, and I get it, and I understand it,” Trump goes on today in the unshown portion. “And it’s a very interesting thing, and I’m going to be letting you know about it. In the meantime, we love the U.S.A. and we love what’s happening, thank you.”
The remainder of the consisted of bullet points highlighting the destruction COVID-19 has caused:
- 7.4 MILLION CASES
- 11 MILLION JOBS LOST
- 100,000 SMALL BUSINESSES CLOSED
- 40 MILLION AT RISK FOR EVICTION
- 209,000 DEAD
