NBC Reporter: Trump’s Lawsuit Against Mary Trump Proves He Isn’t Self Made or a Capable Businessman [VIDEO]
Many in the New York City area know that Donald Trump was never a successful businessman. The reputation he has cultivated for himself is largely a myth. In 2016, though, Trump convinced, at least enough voters, that he was qualified to become the leader of the free world.
Mary Trump has long tried to poke holes in her uncle’s story. She even provided the New York Times with tax returns that showed how incapable he really was. In turn, Trump has sued his family member. But, Tom Winter says, that move proves that the picture the tax returns paint is real.
Winter first pointed out the Trump lie that he started his business empire with a $1 million loan from his father. The reporter notes Trump was given, “at least $413 million in today’s dollars from his father’s real estate empire, much of it through tax dodges in the 1990s.”
“As far as this lawsuit, I think an interesting thing here is that it essentially proves the story,” Winter continued. “Because if the documents were, in fact, fake, there would be no reason here to sue. The president called this a totally fake news when The Times started publishing documents about his tax payments and about his tax returns, so this essentially substantiates their reporting, because otherwise, why would you sue and why would you claim damages?”
