A few months back, an interviewer’s gaffe made “Let’s go Brandon,” a slogan on the Right. The driver involved, Brandon Brown, has claimed that he wanted nothing to do with politics.

Brown rapidly changed his stance, though, when he had trouble getting a company to sponsor his car. On Thursday, he announced that he had reached a sponsorship deal with LGBCoin, a cryptocurrency company. The announcement, though, seems to be a bit premature.
According to the Charlotte Observer, “NASCAR, however, has not yet approved the sponsor and paint scheme, a NASCAR spokesperson said Thursday evening. All sponsorship must be approved by NASCAR officials through a formal submission process, which has not occurred in this case. Brown’s team has submitted the sponsorship to NASCAR for consideration, the spokesperson said.”
The article also notes that the organization isn’t exactly fond of the slogan and trend. NASCAR President Steve Phelps said in November:
“We do not want to associate ourselves with politics, the left or the right. We obviously have and we’ve always had as a sport tremendous respect for the office of the president no matter who is sitting. I think it’s an unfortunate situation. Do we like the fact that it kind of started with NASCAR and then is gaining ground elsewhere? No, we’re not happy about that. But we will continue to make sure that we have respect for the office of the president.”
