Yesterday, Bernie Sanders called a press conference to announce that he is staying in the race for the Democratic nomination. The fact that the Vermont senator felt the need to hold such an event shows that commanding lead that Joe Biden currently holds.
The former Vice President’s attention will now turn away from Sanders and towards Donald Trump. There will also be much speculation about the best possible running mate for Biden. During a Fox radio program on Tuesday, Napolitano argued that Biden could tap Republican and former Ohio Governor John Kasich.
The legal analyst began, “If it were up to me, I would choose a female. But I think there’s a lot of competing factors and former candidates with different levels of influence and approach to President Obama. And the decision might be a little surprising.”
Napolitano then said the pick needs to be a strategic one. He continued, “[Biden] might even reach across the aisle and do something off the wall like John Kasich, who probably agrees with Biden on everything except he’s got an ‘R’ after his name and it will guarantee Joe Ohio. Trump can’t win without Ohio.”
Kasich was a very popular Governor in his home state. Trump won Ohio in 2016 by nearly 8%.
