Nancy Pelosi’s Sarcastic Clap at SOTU Takes the Internet By Storm

In what has been one of the most controversial State of the Union addresses in recent history, millions of Americans tuned in to hear what the president would say and how the woman sitting behind him, Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi. would react.

Throughout the president’s speech, whether he was talking about immigration, trade, or military conflict, Pelosi was seen nodding in disapproval much more often than standing in ovation, but one key moment, sums up the relationship between the most powerful man and woman in this country better than anything else.

“We must reject the politics of revenge, resistance, and retribution, and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise, and the common good,” Trump said.

As President Trump proudly glanced around the room at Democrats and Republicans clapping in approval, sitting just feet behind him was Speaker Pelosi. She too was standing and clapping, but in a manner unlike most others.

Pelosi stood, stared, and directed her clap at Mr. Trump himself, as to say, “yeah, how about you start first.”

Instantly those on Twitter began to react:

According to a CNN poll, 59% of viewers had a “very positive” reaction to Trump’s speech.
