Nancy Pelosi Made a Fly Joke in a Letter to Democratic Colleagues

Nancy Pelosi can often come off as serious and stern. That does not mean, however, that the Speaker of the House doesn’t enjoy taking a swipe at Republican rivals when the opportunity comes about. Donald Trump has barely talked to Pelosi after she ripped up his address following January’s State of the Union.

Last week’s vice presidential debate was overshadowed that by a fly that landed on Mike Pence’s head. In recent letter to Democratic colleagues. Pelosi made reference to the incident, saying that she’s getting hints from a “fly on the wall” in the White House.

Pelosi is currently locked into tough negotiations with Steve Mnuchin over a COVID relief package. At first, Donald Trump broke off talks, saying a package would come after the election. Once he realized how unpopular that was, though, he began talking stimulus again.

Still, talks have not been going well. Pelosi referenced these troubles in the recent letter. She told Democrats,:

“A fly on the wall or wherever else it might land in the Oval Office tells me that the President only wants his name on a check to go out before Election Day and for the market to go up. The American people want us to have an agreement to protect lives, livelihoods and the life of our American Democracy. Democrats are determined to do so!”
