Nancy Pelosi Just Stripped Mike Pence of His Bonus Office in the Capitol

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) booted Vice President Mike Pence from his ceremonial office space in the US Capitol on Tuesday, ending a sweetheart deal set up by former Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI).

The space was a gift from Ryan to Pence, following President Donald Trump’s inauguration in 2017. Pence and Ryan developed a close working relationship during their mutual tenures in the House.

“Room assignments are reviewed and changed at the beginning of every Congress,” a Democratic aide told NPR.  Speaker, Pelosi can assign or revoke office space to whomever she pleases.

In what may be a gesture of bipartisanship and a willingness to work with the fledgling Trump administration, Pelosi is assigning new office space to the White House Office of Legislative Affairs, the aide said.
