For months, Mitch McConnell and Nancy Pelosi have been haggling over a stimulus bills. With major changes coming to Washington in January, the duo finally came together on an agreement this weekend.

But Donald Trump, who showed very little interest in the bill, says he finds the stimulus package disgraceful. The president is arguing that the $600 payment, which Republicans were loath to included, was nowhere near enough. According to MSNBC’s Garrett Haake, this reaction has Democrats “dancing in the streets.”
During a speech posted to Twitter last night, Trump said, “It’s called the COVID relief bill, but it has almost nothing to do with COVID. I’m asking Congress to amend this bill and increase the ridiculously low $600 to $2,000 or $4,000 for a couple.”
Haake was asked about the president’s comments during an appearance on Morning Joe. He told the host, “This could not have been a bigger debacle for Republicans, who barely were able to get this bill over the finish line in the Senate with the $600 checks that were in it. Remember, everyone left town after this bill passed.” He continued, “Democrats are dancing in the streets.”
The reporter closed his comments, “I really can’t emphasize enough the point about the president being MIA in the production of this bill. He put none of his political capital on the line to push for this at any time. This is not someone who has ever been interested in the legislative process, but he was hands off.”
