MSNBC Host Suggests Trump is Blackmailing Lindsey Graham with “Something Pretty Extreme”

During a panel discussion on MSNBC, anchor Stephanie Ruhle suggested that Senator Lindsey Graham may be being blackmailed by President Donald Trump over “something pretty extreme.”

Ruhle made the comments while hosting a panel discussion on Lindsey Graham’s change of heart towards the president. She was responding to former Republican Congressman David Jolly, who pointed out that “before Don got elected, Lindsey Graham called Donald Trump a racist, xenophobic bigot.” Jolly opined, “I doubt Lindsey Graham could tell you Donald Trump has had a change of heart in the last 24 months, I bet the change of heart has been with Lindsey Graham, not the president.”

“Or it could be that Donald Trump or somebody knows something pretty extreme about Lindsey Graham,” Ruhle responded, before immediately dropping the subject, stating, “we’re gonna have to leave it there.”

Lindsey Graham has made a significant U-turn in his approach to the president since Trump’s inauguration. He was one of Trump’s biggest critics on the campaign trail but has sided with the White House on most issues since, including during the high-profile and controversial nomination of Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh.

Stephanie Ruhle is not the first person to question Graham’s change of heart. ‘Captain America’ actor Chris Evans raised the question on Twitter following Graham’s public call for Trump to invoke emergency powers to build his wall on the Mexican-American border.

Chris Evans asked the South Carolina Senator, “what do they have on you?” adding, “I can’t tell if this shameful 180 is born of fear or thirst.”
