MS Mayor: Don’t Criticize Police, George Floyd Died of an Overdose or Heart Attack
George Floyd was killed by police in Minneapolis, Minnesota this Monday. Since there was clear video tape, action was taken against the officers involved more swiftly than usual. Even Donald Trump condemned the officers in the matter, calling for an FBI investigation.
But while it seemed for a time that this was going a situation where there was little defense for the Minneapolis Police Department. That is until Petal, Mississippi Mayor Hal Marx weighed in. According to the Republican lawmaker, Floyd must have died of a heart attack of overdose.
On his Facebook page, Marx warned people about rushing to judge the police officers in the incident. He wrote, “If you can talk, you can breathe. Think about that before rushing to judgement. #thinblueline.”

A Twitter user responded, “Would be nice to get a few in there that understand reasonable force, when its need, and don’t give the rest of them a bad reputation.”
Marx replied, “If you are talking about the incident in MN, I didn’t see anything unreasonable. If you can say you can’t breathe, you’re breathing. Most likely that man died of overdose or heart attack. Video doesn’t show his resistance that got him in that position. Police being crucified.”
The Twitter account for Hal Marx has since been deleted. As of right now, the Facebook post is still up on the site.
