A Strange Request
Her life was going to be transformed on that day, but there was just one problem. A living hell was being created by her mother-in-law during the planning of the event. There was one peculiar request she insisted on.

The request itself was not the problem, but rather what it meant. Is she worried she might not be good enough for her son based on how she looked at her? Her wish was about to be granted.
What Did She Want?
In the end, the mother-in-law refused to budge from her position. She stipulated that at least 100 guests must attend her son's wedding before she would pay half. There was something bizarre about this request.

Freya decided to get revenge in the best way possible when she learned why her mother-in-law had made such strange requests.
Opening Up
Rather than taking revenge on her soon-to-be husband directly, Freya decided to speak with him first. Ultimately, it was his mother against whom she was standing up.

Her plan was a complete surprise to him, but after telling him her plan, he spread a broad smile across his face. “That’s brilliant!” He said in agreement. “This is exactly what she needs to teach her a lesson.”
A New Woman
Both Freya and her husband agreed that they'd repay her for the nights she spent crying, wondering if she was good enough. It was now time for her to stand up to her oppressive rule.

Now that Freya knew better, she was a different woman. It wasn't hard for her to be confident and to know where she fit into the world. In addition, this meant she would no longer be seeking the approval of her mother-in-law.
The Plan
After hatching her plan, Freya set about putting it into action. It was just a matter of dropping off something somewhere, and everything would be ready for her mother-in-law.

She expected 100 guests to show up at her son's wedding, and that's exactly what she got. Her mouth would be open in horror at the guests' reactions.
Loving Life
Freya Jensen grew up in Copenhagen, Denmark, where she lived her entire life. There was a sense of community there and she loved the cold winters. It wasn't until Matilda Larsen came into her life that she realized she could meet a bad person.

She lived by the mantra of enjoying life as much as she could while she could. Thus, she aspired only to things that were enjoyable. It was at that moment that she met her life partner.
Looking For A Purpose
After graduating high school, Freya sought out her life's purpose. Her wanderings were centered around seeking a calling. It was then that Leon Larsen came into her life.

A beautiful young blond man caught Freya's eye while she was enjoying a night out on the town. As soon as she met him, her life changed forever.
The Love Of Her Life
The moment she laid eyes on him, she knew something special was about to happen. The combination of his pale blue eyes and blond hair was enough to make her go insane. However, she did not know what else he hid.

Leon offered to buy her a drink, as he appeared to be feeling the same way. They began dating, and the rest is history.
Anxiety
A few months later, Leon was eager to meet her parents. The more she learned about his life, the more worried she became. Leon was born into a wealthy family. The fishery his father owned was well-known and respected.

The rent was sometimes hard to pay for Freya, so they intimidated her. Having never met his mother, she had no idea who she would be like.
Meeting The Parents
He invited her to his house after they went on a date. The size of the place surprised her. An on-site housekeeper was even employed.

Upon meeting his father, she found him to be a man of perfect manners. As she looked at Leon, she could see what gave him his charms. After meeting Leon's father, it was time to meet his mother.
Matilda
Leon bellowed to the floor above him, asking his mother to come down and introduce herself to Freya. After a moment, she watched a thin woman clad in furs slowly slink down the stairs.

She stood still and took one look at Freya. But that was all she had to do; the stare was cold and calculating as if figuring out what her intentions with Leon were. From that moment on, Freya knew she wouldn’t get along with her.
Questioning Her Worth
Over the course of the next few months, Matilda really made Freya question her self-worth. She was the stereotypical horrible mother-in-law and never gave her any credit for anything.

Freya tried her best to placate the mother, but nothing was ever good enough. She was used to luxury, and Freya didn’t seem like a luxury to her son. There were some nights when Freya even cried about it, and Leon noticed.
Reassuring Her
Leon reassured Freya that he didn’t have the same ideals as his mother and that he definitely didn’t need her approval anymore. He was not an independent adult with his own business.

But he had no idea that all hell was about to break loose once he did something that his mother wouldn’t like at all. He decided to go out and buy a ring for his girlfriend.
Proposing
One night, Leon took Freya on a magical date. It seemed more extravagant than usual, and she was about to find out why. At the end of the evening, Leon had a string quartet play her favorite song.

Then, he bent down on one knee, took her hand, and pulled out a black box. Inside was a beautiful sapphire ring, her favorite gemstone.
Yes
Freya said yes without any kind of hesitation. They hugged each other and thought they could resume their lives as normal. But the couple didn’t know what was waiting for them.

Leon was elated, but he hadn’t considered what his mother was going to say to him when he broke the news to her. He thought she’d lay her pettiness aside; he was dead wrong.
Against It
He excitedly called her and broke the news. But instead of happiness and joy, all he heard was the selfish outrage she bombarded him with over the phone.

He couldn’t believe his mother could act that way. From that day on, he knew he didn’t need her approval anymore. But things were only going to get worse the closer they got to the date.
Wedding Plans
Freya and Leon quickly got to work planning their next move. They booked a date six months away and knew they’d have to work hard to have everything in order.

But the couple wasn’t anticipating Matilda to make sure that it would be difficult for them. At their next family lunch together, she was going to make a generous offer, but it was shrouded in suspicion.
Paying For Half
At the dinner, Matilda generously offered to pay for half the wedding. It was an amazing gesture, but Freya had her suspicions. Leon, on the other hand, seemed to fall for her tricks.

The offer was incredible, but it had to have some kind of caveat. She patiently waited for her to change her mind or, even worse, tell her what she wanted in return.
An Odd Request
After scrambling to get everything perfect for her wedding, Matilda finally piped up about a “simple request” that she had. She told her it wasn’t anything big, but Freya knew better.

She called the bride-to-be and made the simple request. She wanted there to be more guests at the wedding, so it was a prestigious event. She’d pay for half of everything, so it shouldn’t have been a big deal until she said how many.
100 people
Freya's mouth hung open when Matilda told her she wanted there to be 100 people at the wedding. She didn’t mind who Freya invited, but it had to be a big wedding.

It wasn’t the request itself but rather the meaning behind it. She saw the way she looked at her; did she think she wasn’t good enough for her son? Well, she was about to find a way to give her what she wanted.
Speaking To Leon
Freya decided to speak to her fiance about this. She waited for Leon to get back from work and explained the situation. His mouth hung open just like hers did.

He put his hand over his mouth and told her he couldn’t afford to pay for 50 wedding guests. They were both in agreement, but what would they do when she wouldn’t help pay otherwise?
Not Going To Budge
The stuck-up mother-in-law wasn’t going to budge. Her condition for paying half for her son’s wedding was that they had at least 100 guests attend. This was a bizarre request, to say the least.

But when Freya learned the terrible truth behind why her mother-in-law had such strange requests, she decided to get her revenge in the best possible way.
Talking To Leon
Freya decided that before getting her revenge, she’d have to speak to her soon-to-be husband about it. After all, it was his mother she was about to make a stand against.

She had no idea how he would react, but after telling him her plan, a broad grin spread across his face. “That’s brilliant!” He said in agreement. “This is exactly what she needs to teach her a lesson.”
Standing Together
The couple was in agreement; they were going to pay her back for all of the nights that Freya spent crying, worrying if she was good enough. Now she was taking a stand against her tyranny.

Freya was a different woman, and now she knew better. She was confident and knew her place in life. This also meant that she wasn’t going to look for her mother-in-law’s approval anymore.
Finding Out The Truth
While Freya was thinking of ways to strike back, Leon came rushing in one day. He explained that he had learned why his mother was doing this. His father was much more understanding and honest.

He told Leon that his mother made the request to see if Freya could handle such a big task. It made her blood boil. How dare she try and test her on her own wedding day? She knew she needed a plan to get some revenge.
The Perfect Plan
Freya hatched her plan and started setting it up. She had to drop something off somewhere, and then everything would be set and ready for her mother-in-law.

She went to a local homeless shelter and spoke to the administrators there. She told them that she had an event that they couldn’t pass up. After that was done, she couldn’t wait for her wedding day.
Getting Everything Ready
The last few weeks passed, and Freya and Leon managed to get everything ready in time. They had even managed to get the 100 guests that Matilda had asked for. But she didn’t know who was coming.

Freya knew that she would be surprised by the “friends” she had invited. But she had the perfect counterargument for when the mother lost her temper.
Day Of The Wedding
Fast forward to the day of the wedding, and Freya cried, looking at herself in the mirror. She was in her beautiful white gown. Leon looked equally as great in his sharp black suit.

They waited for their guests to arrive, most of all Leon’s parents, who had paid for half of everything. Soon the people filed in. They warmly greeted them and ushered them inside.
A Twist
Matilda and Leon’s father came into the chapel to sit down for the ceremony, but they weren’t ready for what they were about to see. The 100 starving guests were sitting down, waiting for the ceremony and, most of all, the food afterwards.

Matilda and Leon’s father would have very different reactions to what they saw despite both being equally surprised.
Revenge
Matilda shrieked and marched straight to where Freya was sitting on the other end of the chapel. Once she got there, she shouted, “What are these people doing here? Do you think this is some kind of joke?”

Freya flashed a fiendish grin and said, “What? You said it didn’t matter who I invited, remember?” She had the last laugh, and her revenge was complete. As a bonus, Leon and Freya got to pay for 50 homeless people’s meals - Matilda reluctantly paid for the other 50.
