Mnuchin: Trump Hasn’t “Got Things Wrong at All”

Donald Trump and his administration have taken quite a bit of heat for their handling of COVID-19. Even reliable Trump surrogates like Tucker Carlson have been willing to admit the White House has not been fully transparent.

To hear Steve Mnuchin tell it, though, the President’s handling of the situation has been top notch. Today on ABC, the Treasury Secretary told ABC News that Trump has not “gotten anything wrong.”

Jon Karl, the ABC host asked Mnuchin about Trump’s recent speech from the Oval office. “These were all false statements,” Karl said. “How, in an Oval Office address, do statements about the president’s own proposals end up being wrong?”

Mnuchin responded, “The president was very clear. He wanted to address a very important point, which we shut down more cases coming in. He wanted to reassure the American public,” Mnuchin continued. “I don’t think in an Oval Office address you can address every single issue as you’re discussing it.”

The host pressed, “How does he get things wrong about his own proposal?” Mnuchin answered, “I don’t think he got things wrong at all.”
