The right has been trying to overturn Roe vs. Wade for decades. While the issue polls incredibly poorly, the GOP doesn’t seem to care. They just want what they want.Overturning Roe vs. Wade won’t ban abortion, it will allow each individual state to choose whether the procedure will be legal or not in their states. Many in the Republican party would like to see a national ban on abortion. And during a weekend interview, Mitch McConnell said that may do just that if they are to get back into power.
The senate minority leader told USA Today, “If the leaked opinion became the final opinion, legislative bodies — not only at the state level but at the federal level — certainly could legislate in that area. And if this were the final decision, that was the point that it should be resolved one way or another in the legislative process. So yeah, it’s possible.”
Senator Mitch McConnell told USA Today that if Roe is upended by Supreme Court, there might be a nationwide ban against abortion.

McConnell continued, “With regard to the abortion issue, I think it’s pretty clear where Senate Republicans stand. And if and when the court makes a final decision, I expect everybody will be more definitive. But I don’t think it’s much secret where senator Republicans stand on that issue.”
