Cory Booker released confidential material on Twitter in regards to the nomination of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Booker told the nominating committee ahead of time that he was planning to release the documents who brought into question Kavanaugh’s nomination.

Before taking to Twitter, Booker dared his colleagues in the Senate to take action against him.

It was soon revealed that the documents shared by Booker had already been cleared for public released and were not confidential in nature. On Thursday, Booker released 28 documents marked “committee confidential.”

McConnell wouldn’t say Booker had violated any type of committee rule, instead pointing out his “unusual behavior” which McConnell said could draw attention from the Ethics Committee.

“When you break the Senate rules, it’s something the Ethics Committee could take a look at,” McConnell told host Hugh Hewitt. “And that would be up to them to decide. But it’s routinely looked at by the Ethics Committee.”

McConnell said it’s not his job to direct that committee but also said the committee has an “obligation” to look into violations of the Senate rules.

If Cory Booker was expelled from the chamber he would be the first politician to carry that distinction since 1862.

Booker has no plans to stop divulging documents regarding Kavanaugh’s nomination. He took to Twitter on Thursday to reiterate his stance and point out that it wasn’t just McConnell threatening an ethics violation.

Despite claims that Brett Kavanaugh has perjured himself at least four times, McConnell said during the interview that he has no doubt Kavanaugh will be confirmed.

“I think any doubts anybody might have had have been dispelled by his virtuoso performance before the Judiciary Committee. I mean, it’s stunning. He’s just a stellar nomination in every respect,” McConnell told his host.
