Mississippi Governor Congratulates “Harry Azcrac” On His Graduation
The 2019-2020 school year ended a little differently than most, but that doesn’t mean that students are skipping the senior prank. In Mississippi, one sneaky student managed to catch the state’s governor in a trick that’s getting nationwide attention. Slipping fake names into a list is a classic, and fortunately, Governor Tate Reeves kept his sense of humor, congratulating the prankster after he realized his error.
Governor Tate Reeves was performing a virtual graduation ceremony and reading off a list of names when he stopped suddenly, clearly realizing what he’d just read: “Harry Azcrac.” As the clip circulated social media, Governor Reeves was appreciated for his role as the, ah, “butt” of the joke, and even retweeted it, joking that perhaps in his next celebration, he could include a student named “Ben Dover.”
Reeves should also be on the watch for students named Bea Hind, Mike Rotch, and Mr. I. P. Freely.
Reeves says that the student who submitted the name “Harry Azcrac” could have a future as a Simpsons writer. Bart was known for his pranks on bartender Moe Sizlack. It was a regular theme on the show that Bart would call the bar, and ask for a patron with a made-up name (such as Seymour Butts or Hugh Jass), which Moe would say aloud to the amusement of the crowd.

The changes in schedule this year have been stressful for students, teachers, and parents, and as senior pranks go, this one broke some tension and was pretty harmless. Even the governor was able to get in on the fun and appreciate the humor.
