Mike Pence Said He’d Be Happy To See Michael Flynn Back in Administration

Michael Flynn did not last very long in his position as National Security Adviser. In fact, he only spent 24 days in the role, which is the shortest amount of time for any NSA in American history.

Flynn was fired by a Donald Trump while the former General was being investigated by the FBI. The former adviser pleaded guilty to lying to the bureau, but the charges against his were recently dropped by the Justice Department. Now that he is out of legal trouble, Mike Pence said that he’d be happy to work with him again.

The Vice President made the comments while speaking with Axios for HBO. “And now I believe the decision by the Justice Department lays bare what was clearly prosecutorial abuse,” he said. “And for my part, I’d be happy to see Michael Flynn again.”

Pence also said of his former co-worker, “I think Gen. Michael Flynn is an American patriot.”

The Vice President was involved in Donald Trump’s initial rationale for firing Flynn. Back in December of 2017, the President tweeted, “I had to fire General Flynn because he lied to the Vice President and the FBI. He has pled guilty to those lies. It is a shame because his actions during the transition were lawful. There was nothing to hide!”

Trump also seemed open to the idea of working with Flynn again at some point. When asked about the possibility, the President said, “I would certainly consider it, yeah. I would. I think he’s a fine man.”
